I have been thinking of trying to make some butter, and was planning on putting a bit of EVOO in it to make it softer in fridge, but as I've recently been reading about the health benefits of coconut oil, was wondering if that might work instead? As someone who has never made butter OR used coconut oil at all, I have no idea if it would make it taste funny, or change consistency too much? Any thoughts on the matter would be appreaciated!  Also, where does one purchase coconut oil???

Mm, no reverse function seems a bit silly. I use reverse all the time. And yes, I was wondering if the stainless steel would get hot. I wonder if it uses the same gearless technology in the motor as TMX, as that is what makes it so long-wearing isn't it. I'd be worried about it being made in China!
Still, perhaps a cheaper option for those who really want a tmx but really cannot afford one at the time.

Have heard a rumour they will be coming in soon at a price of under $1000. Could be interesting competition... I guess it doesn't come with the reputation on the tmx though.

I've made the LMP out of the EDC 4 times with no problems whatsoever, always turns out perfectly. Today though I wanted to make a big one, so made double quantity - pastry was perfect, but when it came to the lemon filling I could not get it to thicken. I'm sure I doubled all quantities correctly, and I extended the cooking time, first by 6 minutes on top of the usual 10, then added more cornflour and cooked an extra 6 minutes but still no thickening. I put it in to the fridge anyway hoping it would thicken as it cooled, but it's been in there nearly 3 hours and while it is a bit thicker it is still way too runny to use. It's too late to make another one as I need it for tonight, so Cheesecake shop here I come  , but was hoping someone might be able to suggest what went wrong so I know for next time?

OK - so the ones with stainless steel varomas in the photos which are from Spain are the old models then by the sound of it. It's a shame they leaked as they look much better.
JaneeZee - it's always a case of buyer beware on ebay isn't it. I'm looking for a ghd hair straightener atm and the number of fakes on there is frightening - they look identical, it isn't till you check the serial numbers on the actual ghd site that you can tell. So many people get caught out, thinking they've snagged a bargain...

Has anyone seen these so-called "transparent" varomas on ebay - there are a few TM 31s on sale there with them, but to me they look like a stainless steel varoma dish. Looks much better than the plastic ones I must say. Wonder if you'll be able to purchase them individually?
