Post by: cookie1 on September 21, 2018, 06:22:46 am
Hazelnut and Cacao Cookies
I made 28 from the mixture
Ingredients
80g dates
200g ground hazelnuts
225g flour
50g chia seeds
1 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of salt
50g coconut oil
Ĺ cup maple syrup
1 egg
2 teaspoon vanilla
50g cacao nibs
Preparation
Grind the hazelnuts if needed.
Preheat oven 160*
Prepare 2 oven trays
Place dates in a small bowl and pour boiling water over them. Leave to stand 5 minutes and then drain.
Put dates, hazelnuts, flour, seeds, cinnamon, salt, coconut oil, syrup, egg and vanilla into the bowl. Knead until well combined.
Stir through cacao nibs with a spatula.
Roll teaspoon size balls using wet hands. Press down with your hand and mark with a fork if you wish.
Bake for 15 minutes.
Cool on the tray.

This recipe is based on one from the WW Food magazine. I have altered a couple of things and thermofied it.

Cookie - what is the asterisk for at the oven temperature?  Does it indicate that it is the fan forced temperature?

Cuilidh, it's just a symbol we use to indicate degrees.  It doesn't mean fan forced.

OK, thanks.  I will assume that it is a standard oven, not fan forced.

Yes Marina. standard oven temperature. I used to be able to do the temperature but I forgot. O
I can still do it, I will have to remember. ;D

Thanks also, Cookie.  I had never noticed the asterisk used in that way before ... to me it always means there is a qualifying end note to give more information.  I will know in future.

You are correct in the use of the asterisk Marina. It was just me being lazy. (and thinking I had forgotten how to do the O sign.)

I remember Thermomixer teaching us how to do it many years ago cookie but Iím sure the asterisk is much quicker.  If I donít do something frequently I forget how to do it !

Same here Judy. It's like the links Cream Puff taught us to do, I don't think I could do that anymore. I'm usually on the ipad so it is harder there.
