This is purely a hint. DD discovered it in the latest Donna Hay magazine. Just before you cook up the meat for your dish (using your favourite recipe) add 2 chorizo sausages, cubed, and cook them up. It adds a new dimension to the recipe.
-
Yum but DH can't eat chorizos. Perhaps I could take it for DS
-
Try doing the same with anchovies.
-
I second that. I often add anchovies into pasta sauce recipes. They dissolve away, and add a subtle depth of flavour to the dish.
-
Does it add much spiciness I wonder? My littlest wouldn't go for that.
I've been adding a dollop of umami to mine and that's been making it yummier than ever.

You can buy mild chorizo, SuzieG

Good job SuzieG, was just going to add this idea…(of course!)
;D ;D

I know you are all going to think this is strange, but try adding some ground cinnamon and a bit of Golden Syrup to the sauce. I do this.
-
I'll give it a go Chookie. I use umami heaps but only went with the chorizo this time. It doesn't add any spiciness that I could notice.

Something sweet but not too much definately adds alot to something like pasta or bolognaise sauce.. I do that too.. Never tried golden syrup though that would be nice..have to go by taste though so add a little at a time as too much can ruin it..yum

Frozzie, quite right. ;D

Chorizo in bolognaise would be a huge hit in our house. Thanks for the hint.
