Hello,
I would like to know what are the different home cooking meat.
In France we have:
Soleil (ou aller - retour) : sun (or round - trip)
Bleu : blue
Saignante : bleeding
A point : has developed
Trop cuite : overcooked
... and you? Can you help me with the translation please?

Sorry Yoz, I can't help you but one of our French speaking members may be able to answer this one for you.

Yoz
We tend to use the term "blue" for very undercooked meat, "rare" for when the meat is still a bit bloody and undercooked, "medium" for when the meat is still pink in the middle, and "well done" for when the meat is cooked all the way through and brown in the middle (in my opinion, too cooked!)
I hope this helps--Frozzie is probably the best person to answer this one!!

Bonjour yoz
Bleu is blue
Saignante is rare
A point is medium rare
Bien cuit is well done
There is also medium well in English which is between a point and well done..
Voila :)
-
(big sigh) The French language....saignante sounds so mucher nicer than rare.
-
what about if you pronounce it in Australian like its written - saig nanty ;D
-
That's probably why we say rare, suits our accent.
-
Haha for anyone interested its pronounced seng yonte roughly
The eng not like engine bit similar to the ing in liking but with an e instead of i obviously.. Hope thats clear !

Sounds French to me Kim ;)

Lol. Think I got it. But I won't remember it :)

Saignante translate as bloody or bleeding and is how most french like their meat if not blue.. Personally i love my meat med rare or a point
As much as you can cook a steak well done in oz and it still be juicy you cannot here.. Something to do with the fact tht meat is not bled here but is in oz.. Becomes as tough as an old boot.. Blah yuk

I would love to hear all of you trying 😉😄
