Every year I have said I will organise for a couple of sailors to come to dinner.
People do this all the time.
I dont know how, does anyone know??
Would love to cook some yummy TM food for them.

I think I've missed the boat, lol, apparantly there is a list of sailors that want to dine in an Aussie home :)
Mind you come summer, boys night out, girl friends over, pooool party, check out the washboards ;D LOL

I don't know about sailors but my friends became a 'mentor' couple to some American uni students studying here. Fab idea so the students feel a little more at home...they would invite them for dinner every now and than and generally keep in touch. These students have now become such good friends with my friends that they recently went to the student's wedding in the USA.

Hally, Next time contact the Australian American Association - or maybe join up now and they will contact you when an American boat comes in. http://www.aaawa.com.au/

Thank you

Sounds like a fun idea Hally. You have such a good heart, embrassing people into your home.
-
I'm sure they would love it Hally. Are you sure DH and DS will be home if you are checking out six packs? :D :D

l did this when l lived in perth
l just went down to the freemantle docks when l saw on the news that a navy ship was in and the sailors were giving tours of there ship so l asked if they the guy who gave use a tour would like to come for tea he also stayed the night in our spare room we had a good time with him we wrote letters to him for a while but lost contact with him

Hally I used to be on one of those ships. I'll come to dinner.

Hally, a roast would be lovely. I don't think it would matter what you made though as you are such a good cook.
It's your warm hospitality they will appreciate most.

You will probably learn a lot about USA and them about Australia.
