Hi, I needd to cook enough rice for 30 - 40 people today and remember seeing a different way mentioned in a thread which I was going to try. I've searched this morning and can't find it, is anyone able to point me in the right direction. Thanks

Thanks fundj and Dede, this is what I was looking for. I did do the rice this way but I think I find the normal EDC method quicker and I seem to cook more rice than with this method. I was a little worried about doubling the recipe so needed to do it a few times. The last time I did double both the rice and water and got distracted during the sitting time and it was in the tax for about forty five minutes and it was a solid mass of rice. I would have been better just sticking to the way I've always done it. Unfortunately my father in law died while we were on holidays in the US and we have had to come home to be with the family. One of the other SIL and II offered to make all the food for dinner after the wake. We are thinking there will be 30 - 40 people, we've made beef bourginion, beef stroganoff, chicken curry, rice, 2 cookies and cream cheesecakes and a large apple and rhubarb crumble. I used the tmx for most of my things but SIL did things the traditional ways and for the quantities the TMX was a little limited.

Wonder, I wouldn't be using the TMX to cook rice for this many people. Infact if catering for this many, would use it as they do in restaurants and just use it in prep and for sauces. Hope everything went OK. Always a stressful time.

Wonder, really sorry to hear your news - I know it's a stressful time for everyone. It was so good of you to step up and help take care of the food . . not an easy task for that number of people. Do take good care of yourself!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. The family had a lovely day (under the circumstances) and everyone was very thankful for the great food after all the stress of the day rather than ordering pizzas.
