I have just bought three containers ...Smoked ocean trout rillettes, wasabi cream and pickled red onions, each one holding 200 gms and paid $32.00!!! I bought it after much hesitation since I had it at a friend's place and it was soooooooo delish!!! The brand is "brilliant food" which you get in some speciality shops.
Now I am on the lookout for recipes so that i can make it at home.
Btw, you have it on light rice crackers as nibbles with drinks. Yummy.
Do any of you have a recipe for any or all of these? I have found a recipe for wasabi cream on taste.com but still looking for a good recipe for the other two that you can do on the TMX.

That is the joy of living in a metropolis. Sad me in Cairns. You are in piggy heaven. I love going to P of K to indulge in the mark down food such as a kilo of French Dijon for $9.99 Sadly I don't get to Sydney that often. JD lives in piggy heaven. The Adelaide markets are to die for . I love the Smell Cheese stall especially.

Oops I got sidetracked courton. I mix a good squeeze of wasabi from the tube into some cream fraiche and add some butter or cream..

Wow! Thank you goldfish and gert! I still can't believe I paid $32 for something that can ( hopefully) be replicated at home. :) :)

Nah that is fine. Buying it gave you the idea and now if you make any you will get how the flavours are though pickled red onions can be aNy flavor you like.
It is not always a out the price eh ?

If there's anything you want from the Adelaide Market Gretchen, just let me know.

Very kind Judy. The last time I was at the market I had to get everything cryovac sealed so I could bring it home on the plane as I never check my bag and was all pretty smelly in my carry on.. When I got home I had to give so much away as my eyes were so much bigger than my stomach. Now my stomach is enormous. LOL!
I think the thinking about all the good stuff is sometimes better than actually having it. Are they selling roasted chestnuts in the market yet? I bought some here the other day but had to roast them myself.

I don't know Gretchen as I don't go there very often - maybe once a year if I'm lucky :-)) If you wanted something though I would make a special trip just for you.

Oh Judy that is so generous. I was hoping to come for a few days this month but no go. I am definitely trying for Nov as DH has meeting there. We need someone to come in and look after the dogs as one is too old to go to a kennel so fingers crossed. Maybe we could meet for coffee there if you are lucky enough to get a trip to the markets this year. Put Nov 15 in your diary.

Thanks Courton and Goldfish, these combinations sound heavenly ;D
I'm going to the kitchen to make pickled red onions now. I am following a diet and it is allowed!

Date on my calendar Gretchen, all being well here of course.

Let us know how you go Elle g. Which recipe are you planning to use? Trust me it is so delish.
-
Hi courton, sounds absolutely delicious . Were all three served on same cracker - or 1 flavour on each? Sounds a lot for one cracker! If you make them and have camera close by - love a pic!
-
Oh golly gosh. I think I'll be on my way home on Nov 15. I'll be there sometime in September or October or when DH decides it's time to go. If he can pull himself away from the car he's currently restoring.

Bickie, it was served on water and rice crackers...1/2 teaspoon of the rillettes, 1/4 teaspoon of the wasabi cream and one tiny piece of onion. All on one cracker. In fact, when i came home from work today i had 6 of these crackers. So delish and delicate...looks very good on a white plate. Unfortunately, still have not mastered the art of inserting pics from ipad onto forum. One of these days...I will try to do it.

Sounds like bellini . Could use tiny savory pancakes.
To add photos the easiest way is to use the tapatalk app. I forget who said on this forum it it was a clever person.
After downloading if ya can't get it just ask the question and google will answer it. If all else fails then come back here and I will try to tell ya. IT is so easy you will feel like an idiot if you cannot figure it out. Much like I felt. :D
Since I have been using my IPad I would never go back to my 'puter for adding photos to my posts. I do so love Steve Jobs.
