I just received this by email and did it straightaway. Amazing and would be lovely served with our TMX chocolate custard or a hot chocolate sauce. If anyone wants the recipe I'll post it. Great for singles or for unexpected visitors.

i didn't like it but i think there are a few versions floating around. plus i've discovered i'm not a chocolate cake fan! (i always was funnily...)

May as well post it JD - I have seen a couple of versions and also not a chocolate person - BUT there are lots who are - good to have it here on the Forum. Ta

I quite liked it when I made it. Nice for a quick dessert late at night when you feel like something yummy. Its delicious hot with cold icecream.

Chocolate Cake in a mug (microwave recipe serves 2)
4 tablespoons each of S.R. flour & sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons each of milk, oil (canola) and chocolate chips - these are optional
small splash of vanilla extract (or grand marnier, tia maria, brandy etc)
l large coffee mug, greased
Add dry ingredients to mug and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract and mix again - make sure you have got all the flour at the bottom of the mug mixed in.
Put your mug into the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts on high, 3-1/2 minutes for 800 watts or 2-1/2 minutes for 1250 watts. It is important to check your wattage as the cake will overcook if you don't get it right.
Don't open the microwave door immediately, allow to cool a little then tip out onto a plate and cut in half to share with someone.
It would be nice served with some cream & hot chocolate custard made in the TMX - you will need to put the custard on though before starting the cake recipe.
It is called the most dangerous cake recipe in the world because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night ;D ;D ;D

I used half the sugar and it was really nice.
Also use a really big mug! It overflows if you use one too small, and then it's not a pretty looking thing. I used the tall tupperware thermomug. Prob shouldn't cook in it, but we don't use it, so its handy for that :D

We have a similar recipe which we do at our tupperware themed parties - cooked in 8 min and then served with a toblerone sauce!

Now that really sounds like death by chocolate - too yummo for the chocaholics !!!

Can normal flour be used, mixed in with baking powder? If so, what would be the quantities?

Should be perfectly OK - don't have a packet of baking powder here but just as per the side of the packet - is it 1 tsp per cup? so baout half tsp for 4Tbsp flour??

I've made this a few times, but most recently with some choc chips. As a result, I'd have to say that choc chips are absolutey NOT optional, but essential ;)
I divvie the mix into 3 small ramekins so everyone in the house gets one. I can't eat a whole one on my own.....toooo much!

When you do it in ramekins do you reduce the cooking time?

No - same quantity of mixture, so same time :)
