Title: Hello!
Post by: nonomix on March 26, 2012, 08:13:20 pm
I am a Thermomix demonstrator from Dublin, Ireland. I have had the Thermomix for 2 years now and have only been actively demonstrating it for a few weeks. Although I live in Ireland, I am actually French, so I have lots of French recipes that I would like to share here and I would also be delighted to read your experience with this super appliance  ;D Talk soon!

Welcome nonomix - I think you must be our first Irish/French member - I bet Frozzie will be on here very soon to welcome you!  I hear times are tough in Ireland just now but with your past experience I am sure you will be hugely successful and get the sales.  Good luck with everything and we look forward to hearing from you.

Hi and welcome nonomix.. Im a franco australienne living in france .... Nice to see you part of the forum.. Do you convert your own recipes or are they mainly from the large selection of french cookbooks??
Title: Re: Hello!
Post by: nonomix on April 01, 2012, 10:34:28 pm
Hi Frozzie! I do both. I have a lot of cookbooks and not all are Thermomix so I tend to convert the recipes that are do-able in the Thermomix. The good thing about being bilingual is that you get twice the recipe base so I have French Thermomix recipes and also the UK ones  ;) I also love to glean new recipes on the net but I never have enough time to try them all out! Today, I've made some "Mauricettes", they are soft bread rolls that are perfect as a sandwich bread or as canapés if you make them small enough. I'll post the recipe one of these days as they are delicious!

Yes great being bilingual.. I love it..alot more recipe books.. I have all of the french books except the last one 'recettes de famille'?? But think there is going to be another one this week at the open day but havent been following the facebook page much..most of the english versions whether it be uk, australia etc.  i have so many recipe books i am nowhere near cooking from them all..  Good to have a local on board..  Must be nice that you are not too far from home.  Look forward to your posts :)

Yes it's good to be within an hour flight from home although I don't go home half as much as I'd like. Actually, you're not too far from my mum as she lives in la Nievre! Are you looking at French blogs as well? I know a good few that are absolutely fantastic, especially if, like me, you're a sweet tooth  ;D

Only a couple of hours away.. We love la tourraine...do you have direct flights with ryan air or easy jet... ?? Its a whole trip when we go to australia and is usually min a month away..

Yes look t blogs in both french ad english.. Usually come across them by searching for a recipe.. What are your favourite blogs??  Sweet desserts are my weakness since lving here.. Never used to be but who can resist french desserts.. Also have slowly over the years become addicted to chocolate.. My husband and childrens fault lol!!

Two main Sites other than espace recettes is papilles et pupilles and also supertoinette.. I have a few other blogs but i rarely visit them as most of my time is spent here or some known english sites like helenes blog in canada, tenina.com, chookies website' meganjanes and quirky joes just to name a few.. Not cooking at all this week though as laid up in bed with a virus..

Frozzie, hope you get better soon.
I am an addict of the Supertoinette Thermomix forum (Papotages et astuces). I met a bunch of lovely ladies through it.
Most of the blogs I visit actually belong to some of the Supertoinette users.
They are to name but a few:
http://www.nuagedefarine.com
http://www.la-main-a-la-pate.fr/
http://christaliefolie.canalblog.com/

And a non-Thermomix blog that I love is http://pucebleue-jenreprendraibienunbout.blogspot.com/. She does fab' French desserts!

Of course, one of the first sites I visited when I got my Thermomix was Helene's SuperKitchenMachine. She is fantastic and has such an extensive knowledge of the machine and always gets to find great news about our favourite toy ;)

Thanks girls.. Still sore all over.. Think its just yet another virus trolling around.. Getting there.. Thank goodness dh is able to cook a little but have been getting sick of pasta which is what he mainly cooks..

Dh is still off and sees his doctors and boss this week but the specialist already mentioned yesterday another month :((( told dh what will be will be.. Its always hard at the end when your feeling better but not quite there and you need to go that extra bit to ensure it doesnt reoccur in a couple of weeks.. 2012 blah.. Only good news so far is my parents are visiting us this summer for a few weeks in between their travels :)))

Welcome to the forum monomix.

It is exciting living in another country and learning the language well enough to convert the recipes is great.
I came from Greece myself and made Australia home when I married an aussie. Now that the kids have flown the nest,
we try and visit Europe every year and Island is on our list for next year. My husband is a fancofile and have been
going to france every year for the past few years and have a great time. Good luck with yourTM demonstrations.

Hi Desi, thanks for your kind words. Greece is a beautiful country and I LOVE the food! I'd love to go there but it's such a shame what is happening over there at the moment. Ireland is in a mess as well but I really feel for the Greek people and the way they are being treated, I hope this madness will end soon  :(
I'm sure you have lots of great Greek recipes and I'll try to look out for them on the forum  ;D

Hi nonomix - so glad you've joined the forum.  I've been having a wonderful time reading your blog (have subscribed now) - it's just beautiful!  I was wondering if I might ask where did you find those exquisite moulds for your tulipes of red berry mousse?  The result looks so elegant!  Congratulations!! :D

Goldfish, I got them in a shop in Dublin. They were reduced to 10 euros so I grabbed them as fast as I could! I know they are an italian brand (Silikomart) but not sure if you can find them everywhere...

Hi Monomix,

I agree with you, it is a shame that some countries are going through difficult times due to economic crisis. One think is certain that your average person in the street is not at fault. But as it often happens he is the one who has to make the sacrifices. We all hope that they come out of the crisis in the shortest time possible. As far as the ill treatment of the people is concerned, we all have our thoughts about that, but the reality is that it is a small and vulnerable country.

I hope to convert and post some Greek recipes as soon as I find the time.  :)
