Title: What Type of Tuna for the Dip?
Post by: kateincottesloe on March 07, 2012, 01:17:23 am
Hi, What's the best kind of tuna to use for the basic EDC tuna dip recipe?  I'm thinking the Sirena in oil that I use for the pasta, but wonder if that might be too overpowering.  Could this be one of the rare occasions when tuna in spring water (gak!) is actually better?
Cheers,
K

Hi Kate. I've never made that particluar dip but a friend uses the 'flavoured tunas' for hers. I think it is chilli mango or something similar she likes best. Sorry I'm not much help.
Hope you have the sea breeze there, I can see cloud out on the horizon.

Hi Kate, I also love the Sirena tuna in oil, I see in the supermarket now there is a light oil version and I've tried it, it is nice if you don't want to go the springwater , the dog and cat love the drained oil from the tuna ,so I kid myself I'm giving them a treat too.

I have visitors coming over for a drink this afternoon but I don't have any nibbles. I had some cream cheese and found this thread.

I've used the recipe from the EDC for the tuna dip but used almonds instead of walnuts and the tuna I had was flavored, tomato & basil.

Tastes delish - just hope there's some left by the time they get here ;-(http://img.tapatalk.com/95879243-cb63-8bbd.jpg)

Very timely posting to help K out chrissa.  I think flavoured is the way to go in dips although I must say I am a tuna in spring water gal myself for most of my tuna dishes. :-))

I also like tuna in spring water JD!

My Mum makes a dip of just 250g cream cheese + tuna in chilli (drained). Very easy and tasty.
