Hello fellow Thermie's
I'm trying to find a recipe for Chili flavoured Olive Oil, does anyone have one? Having a girlie pizza nite soon and would really like to make my own, I normally get mine from a farmers market in Subiaco W.A (tastes great) but keep running out (husband uses it like there's no tomorrow) :-\
btw I love this site, thanks for sharing your recipes...I hop on when I need inspiration and always find something tasty to make :)
Cheers

We love our chili olive oil too, I guess we buy from the same seller except I buy mine at the Duncraig growers market. He refills my bottle for a slightly cheaper price but it is a 2 week turn around. I now have 2 bottles lol. So I don't run out.
Would be interested in a recipe if any one has one too.

Flavoured oils are so easy. Simply throw some dried chillis (or whatever dried herbs or spices take your fancy) in a bottle of olive oil and store in a cool, dark place until flavoured to your liking.

How's this (http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/node/17672) one

Hi Guys,
Thank you for the replies I'm going to give both the Thermo recipes a try and see which one comes out the best. I've tried adding the herbs/Chili and seeds to the oil but they went rancid after only a short period of time.
Will also have to look out for the guy at Duncraig, a lot closer than Subi!!

I've successfully made chilli olive oil only by adding dried chillies to olive oil and leaving the bottle in a dark place for a week or two to infuse the flavours.. Whenever i have tried with fresh ones, from memory they have all gone mouldy after a while. Maybe I have been doing the wrong thing?

It's really important to use dried herbs and spices for infused oils. As you found Merlin, too much water content can cause the oil to spoil.
