Title: Maple Chocolate Fudge - For Food's Sake
Post by: LeeJ on February 07, 2012, 10:28:10 am
Nice simple recipe, easy to follow, simple ingredients.

It is very very sweet, even for me, who has a pretty solid sweet tooth.

It has a slight grainy (?) texture, I could see it in the photo in the book as well, so it has turned out just right, just not exactly how I like my fudge  :D

I do love that it doesn't use glucose syrup, we don't get along well.

I added some macadamias to a small portion of it, I would prefer it with a lot more nut's, to even out the sweetness.

Let it set overnight, I'm afraid I don't like it :( Far too sweet, and I'm not much for the texture.

Oh well, on to the next recipe. Maybe someone else has more luck with it :)

Great to have good and bad reviews to all these recipes. I am a real sweet tooth but I'm not sure I would like this either if it's that sickly.

outrageously sweet (not surprising given the 500g sugar and tin of condensed milk!) lovely texture, mine wasn't grainy at all. would definitely be improved by some chopped macadamias. couldn't really taste the chocolate it was so sweet

Tenina's American side coming out. They loooove sweet stuff! I don't like fudge so wouldn't have made it anyway. I don't like brownies much either, another American sweet, gooey thing!  :D

Ths fudge had a lovely taste.  The maple was just enough to be the most prominent taste.  I used white choco instead as that was all I had.  It set well for me, much better than the Caramdel Fudge recipe from Tenina's website.  Definitely will come back to this.  5/5

I am a fudge fan and will always buy it if I see it when out and about.

I gave this a go yesterday and loved it.  The texture and taste was great and the guests I gave it to said it tasted better than 'shop-bought' fudge!

It is quite sweet but I didn't think it was any sweeter than most of the other fudges I have tried.  The trick is to cut it into really small squares and only have a little bit at a time although that is easier said than done!

I didn't bother with the gold leaf and I used a 20cm square tin as I don't have an 18cm one and it didn't seem to matter.

I would definitely make this one again and would probably make all my non-TM fudge recipes using this method now.

5/5 from me!
