Lovely to look at Kim but I guess a darn nuisance if you have to live with it.  If you do have to go out in it, stay safe.

Thanks jd will do but if its like that or worse and they dont salt the roads we wont be going anywhere.. Too dangerous as you cant see the road or where it ends or ditches etc.. Not to mrntion the sliding if you hit ice underneath

Its enough of an adventure just getting wood for the fire on the side of the house lol

Fundj - it was taken in our garden this morning.

Lovely picture CC - you seem to have more than us.  Not that it is a competition  ;D ;D

Frozzie - hope your thaw comes soon.   I am hoping that it doesn't freeze over too much here tonight as it could be treacherous tomorrow.

I can understand that too cp just one thing i have always struggled with living in europe is the cold brrrrr  however a positive part of the cold is wood fires (damn i love that smell!! ) and snow is pretty just not practical

Cc your poor dog lol... Crazy crazy woman !!

I miss the snow. I loved the snow when I lived in New York.  I hated it when it melted though. I still like a wood fire and it does get cold enough here for one in the winter.

It was DD2's first experience of snow that she was aware of today. She looked out wide eyed and said 'ooh. Wow!'. 😃. We took the girls sledding and they loved it. Snow is so much more fun when you have kids, isn't it?

Stunning sky, Cheryl.

I always loved that first fall of snow but hated it once it froze over - truly treacherous to walk on.  All those photos manage to cool us down a bit during our summer here.

Gorgeous photos but stay warm and safe everyone!
Also, next time my kids complain about how cold they are when I walk through the freezer section in the supermarket I am going to show them these photos, even though they love going skiing provided they have about 10 layers on!

I definitely don't miss the snow!  Had my share of freezing days, icy roads and sludge when the snow starts melting... without counting frozen feet, even in snow boots!  Much prefer aussie winters  :)
Kim take care on the road.  Hopefully your "mairie" is efficient and roads are getting cleared, salted/ sanded.

Thank you all so much for the photos, they are truly beautiful. Certainly picture postcard. CC your house is beautiful.

I have had very little contact with snow. Mainly in Tassie and round New South Wales hills. A bit in New Zealand and that is all. We were lucky enough to see it snow in Tassie once.

So sad this morning.. I found out tht this weekend a liitle 8yo boy died after trying to wlk on the iced over lake(well mini lake) in town and fell through... So very sad and makes me a little angry that kids arent more aware of the dangers around water.. Should never have happened ..

On a happier note got dh to the docs and the kids to school this morning with only minimal sliding... Had more trouble getting in nd out of the drive so spent this morning digging it all out and clearing the drive... Who needs a gym!

I'm glad you got to the doctors and the kids to school ok.

That's so sad to hear Kim.

On a lighter note though, it is good to hear you are toning the muscles moving snow, someone has to do it and it obviously it isn't going to be DH for a while.  How did he get on at the doctor's today.  Any improvement?

My DH knows all about a bad back ( sure I read somewhere that you DH had a bad back) my DH had 3 months off work with a squashed vertebrae. He was using 2 walking sticks to be able to walk just a short distance. Was horrible for him. He end up changing jobs to something not involving so much physical lifting. It almost broke us and took us months to catch up.
Hope your DH gets better soon and takes it easy.

Thanks dede... Yes he has a herniated disc so its going o take time... Thankfully for the moment no probs with his income.. Just a slight cutback first month as over here you lose first three days of salsry when sick... Think its to deter throwing a sickie but other than that its all good but its the not knowing how long its going to to take until he gets better...

Def with you there carine... Im not loving the ice and snow... Good for about 5 mins then the amusement wears off... On the way home from school a large van slid off the road and into the large fausse (dip/drain on the side of te road) and two hours layer they are still trying to get i out... Truck just arrived after the tractor failed... The fun of icy roads ...

Lovely snow photo's, but that's as close as I want to get to snow.
Use to love the snow when I was young, but after moving to warmer climates I now hate being cold.
I do remember it snowing one Christmas day in Hobart many many years ago, and it was summer.

Fozzie good to hear that your DH's back is improving, not long after DS3 was born, I suffered with squashed vertebrae  couldn't walk, couldn't sit, its was very hard on us all, I know how he must be feeling.

Thanks to all the NH's (Nthern Hemisphere) lovelies for sharing your present climate with us - beautiful photos but I am hopeless at functioning in such conditions.  We were in NY 2 yrs ago and were snowed in - needed to change flights etc!!! The sauna type conditions in Rocky yesterday after arriving back from Sydney were a bit difficult to capture through the camera lens and there was no beauty to be seen  :D  :D

Let's hope this weather improves soon. It's -22 C outside our window now. Apparently the "Bise Noire" is due to a high pressure system over Denmark, and a low pressure system in Greece. This doesn't happen too often, but when it does, this causes cold wind from Russia to blow towards the west.

Skiing today was pretty horrible, as was yesterday. I'm on vacation, so I might post some photos soon on my blog. I brought my TM along with us to ski, and I've been busy cooking. I've been so  busy with my experiments that I haven't had time to do much on the blog. But I have sold quite a few TM's in the last few months and had lots of fun in the process!
