It is very pretty…

Ooh thank you Tenina, can't wait.
Your last line has me a bit worried - has this project had that affect on you :o I was hoping your holiday would bring you back all calm and relaxed for the book launch. Good luck tomorrow night, come back and tell us how it went won't you?
-
Tenina you deserve lots of congratulations. You have started a new era of your life and obviously working very hard. I hope it is successful for you as we all love it and hang out for anything marked Tenina.
I shall look for you all curled up in the corner tomorrow night. ;) ;)

I think it is the Celebrate and Bake booklet - from the recent cooking classes maybe?
-
Oh no I wish I had waited and got the freebie lol, Oh well I can't wait to get it.

Yes that's the book shan.

Tenina's book will launch with a bang. Ex tropical cyclone Iggy is expected to cross the coast just north of Perth (Jurien Bay) and bring rain etc to Perth. In case you have never guessed I am an avid weather watcher. I guess it comes from growing up on a farm where life depended on the weather. :P
-
I dont do anything by halves…you should all know that by now! hahaha
Did you all see the Fresh write up in the West? Pretty nice…calling it a best selling cookbook of the year (and its only FEB, so he may be right!!)

yes...but there doesn't look to be a padlock for security when entering credit card details :-\ maybe that will change tomorrow...but be careful....so many people have fishing spam on their computers without even knowing!
.....btw Tenina.....the preview pictures look gorgeous 8)
-
Good thinking Maddy. I've ordered it from Tenina's site instead and paid by paypal. ;D

Not much choice when there is no other way to get one. Tenina's site says it is out of stock. Been at work since early this morning and no break to log on to try to get one. Will have to try to get one off this site instead.
-
I contacted them by email, and asked if I could order from them over the phone, and alerted them to the fact there was no security displayed on the page....you really can't be too careful....should find out tomorrow.
My nephew's bank account got cleaned out once by fishing spam....and good luck trying to get your money back from the bank in a hurry :-))
-
okay Tenina please just quietly ask your husband what you regularly have? He doesn't know the name of it but thinks its Hot and Steamy.... Mandy tried to help by saying its A Bit on the Side.... I don't know quite whether this is the best time to say it...but thanks for the great night ;)
-
LOL it was one of the highlights of the night (us just quietly chuckling away at that exchange!!) but CONGRATULATIONS Tenina it was a great night and I am really excited by this book. Have my first recipe picked out and all ;)
-
If you order from the Hub & Spke website from tomorrow you get a free book with it, I think to do with baking.
We also have the free booklet to give away with the first 1000 orders…so all good folks.
Plus, ordering from me means I get a larger slice of the pie, because I become a retailer…now its not all about the money, but I do need it to keep going! hahaha
Outstanding launch tonight, thanks to all the FB and Forum members who were there…love meeting the ever growing gang each time I have something…so thanks for your support, and lets see where it leads us!
-
Have you girls been having a little joke on the side at my husbands expense?? hahaha, he is easy to please in every way! (And now I should stop whilst I am ahead!!)
Thanks for a great nite yourselves…it was so fun!
xx ;D ;D ;D

Excellent - have just ordered - Can't wait!!

I jut tried ordering this off your site, Tenina, only to be told that you don't ship to Collingwood (Melbourne). Seems a bit strange to me. I coulnd't see a "Contact Me" link anywhere. I filled in the Paypal page so hopefully the charge won't proceed???
Can you help (I was trying to order in time to get one of the free books as well!).
Cheers.

Please try ordering again, and use a different browser. We do ship everywhere (even France for Frozzie and UK for Cornish Cream) but our site was absolutely in melt down ordering mode last night and I think it was struggling to keep up, so if people were slow on a screen or whatever, it just gave an error or not ship to that area message. Other people had the same issue, but persisted and their orders did come through. You can email me at tenina@cookingwithtenina.com and I will check whether the order proceeded, but I doubt it. You would recieve a notification email from Paypal if it had.
Hope this helps and that you get back on and get your copy sorted soon!
;D ;D
-
Thanks for the quick response, Tenina, I'll give it another attempt.
Have you not got to bed yet after the launch last night? It's not quite 6.00 am here (which means 3.00 am in Perth) - I suspect you havent'got to bed yet. You must be kn***ered!
Just tried on Internet Explorer as well as Firefox, same result. I'll email you if I may and sort it out that way.
Thanks
-
I am getting the same response Tenina :'( and I am in Tassie.
-
On a positive note great that there are so many sales that the site is going bonkers... Well not for not getting those sales but great that its on fire... Happy for you and hope it gets sorted quickly... Great start so prob no need to apply to mccafe afterall lol!!!
-
Just grabbed a copy.....said there was only 6 left!
.....I think it's safe to say Tenina won't be flipping burgers any time soon :P
-
I just ordered a copy from Hub and Spoke. Postage to Switzerland was only $20. Sorry Tenina, I would have ordered it directly from your site, but the postage to Switzerland came to $49. I'm sure that Hub and Spoke will send it by snail mail, but it doesn't matter.

I had this same problem too, until I only entered my town and not town and suburb on the same line, then it went through. :)
-
I was also told that shipping was unavailable. Tried again and the same thing happened.
Dinner Spinner arrived O.K. Guess I will have to get a copy when it's availabe in store.
-
Just happened to me too, for a delivery to Richmond, Victoria.
Guess I'll try again a bit later.
-
I had that problem when buying Dinner Spinner when that was released.
If I went straight to the PayPal option it said didn't ship to Adelaide.
I tried a few times, no luck ???
But then I went through the whole checkout process, set myself up an account with a password. When I got to the payment option I choose PayPal and it went through fine :D
No trouble this time by the book, I just signed in with my email and password and it was fine. Maybe try that?
-
Have just tried to purchase but said it won't ship to Adelaide!!!!!
-
Tenina, I love your work - but I wonder if you can tell me if there are a lot of recipes in your new book that have Crio Bru as an ingredient. I want to purchase your new book, but Crio Bru is just not something I can afford to buy all the time.
Or is their a substitute for Crio Bru I could use?
Thanks
-
Welcome to the forum vee.

FIrst things first, if you are dealing with ordering issues, you need to sign in or create an account. I have done it for 2 people today and no problems…so think that solves any issues you may have the other way. Also did not use Paypal account to pay, just went for the Credit card options…hope this helps.
As for Vee’s question, there is about 6-7 recipes out of 80 that have Crio Bru in them in the book and Crio Bru can always be replaced with Coffee, as directed in the recipe, either brewed liquid, or granules…
Hope this helps.
The response has been huge. Hoping it goes on and on, as I havent paid back the advance yet…but signs are good. Sent off a HUGE lot, but so many more to do!
Stores (mostly Dymocks) will be stocking the book and if you want it in your area, just phone your local Dymocks. You just may have to wait a little.
Thanks all. ;D ;D
-
I am one of those whom Tenina helped yesterday and I am now very much looking forward to receiving my book.
Thank you for your help, Tenina, it was greatly appreciated and good luck with the book sales, although I think it's going to fly out the doors from the looks of all the comments here.
-
Good to hear that Dymocks will have it. Will have a look at garden city.

Frozzie, I'm up in the mountains until the end of this week. I'm optimistic that both books (Dinner Spinner and FFS) will be there when I get home. The Swiss Postal service (PPT) is usually quite efficient.
I'll let you know :)

OMG I cannot believe it. My For Foods Sake arrived today and it is just beautiful. I told my DH just pick a page and I will go shopping for the ingredients. I love EVERY recipe. Soooooo simple.
This is without a doubt the best ever Thermomix cookbook .
Tenina has done a wonderful job and I am so happy that I bought it even though I was never going to buy another cookbook. Now I want the iPad app for it for my shopping . LOL!
I am so pleased that Tenina is now with us, the actual users of the Thermomix, and so can let her imagination fly. I do not expect that she will get as far as Cairns with her cooking classes but if she ever comes to Brisbane I would fly down to meet her and enjoy her class.
Thank you Tenina. You are becoming a legend in the Thermomix World and it is well deserved
Thermomix Australia should be supporting you big time as you are promoting and "selling" their machine. No doubt we will be seeing Grace on TV next year telling us how many more millions she has made with the help of the expert enthusiasts, her own hard working, and doubtless under paid, consultants as well as our wonderful forum members spreading the word. Good luck to her for bringing it to Australia in the first place but good luck to us for making it so popular.

Well said G.
-
What a day. Spent it reading every page. Newly enthused and with a moderate shopping list to do tomorrow. Beef and ale pie is the first request of course even though it is 32 degrees today.
I am excited :-))
Gert
-
Here here.
-
I am sooooo delighted that you are so happy with the book. I loved doing it of course, it was the book I dreamt of producing the whole time I worked at you know where, but just couldn’t make it happen. Of course now I am free, I am also broke, so hoping your enthusiasm translates to sales…YAY…I am well underway with the next project and Gert, I will come to Cairns any time you can get 20 crazy thermomix fans in the one room! hahaha
;) ;)
-
Tenina I am delighted to have a reply from you. I would love to get 20 people together if I I knew twenty people who owned one. The problem up here is they only have Back to Basics classes ad infinitum. Boring as dog poo when you have owned your machine for a few years. No point in going to the same thing over and over is there? That is why I don't meet anyone new.
Cyndi O'Meara came up a while ago. The large venue was full but it turned out to be more or less a vehicle for sales of her books . Lovely and knowledgeable as she is, there was nothing new in the class. My friends and I enjoyed it but did not learn much about how creative you can be with the Super Kitchen Machine.
I get that the basics are important but look at the yummy "basics " you have created. This is what is needed . Surely there is room for both. There are so many creative consultants about and those on the forum are exceptional. Many go above and beyond the same old stuff. I fear they are being stifled by the "elephant in the room". OK I'll say it, Thermomix Head Office. I have friends in Sydney who would love to be able to "create" like you have done. Sadly they too feel they might have to leave to be able to move the Thermomix into the real world of fun and excitement in the kitchen.
Australia is a forward looking country. We take to new things and run with it. You have done that. I salute you for taking the risks and also for working so hard. Many of us hope you do well and make some real MONEY! I understand you sell value added stuff at your cooking classes like the Crio Bru. Just think how thrilled the consultants would be if they were allowed to mention and sell your books the Crio Bru some nifty brushes and Helene's magical spatulas at their demos and cooking classes. It could also, supplement their incomes.
Thermomix can certainly market their product anyway they want but for goodness sake a little, sharing and common sense would go a long way in the good will department. In Australia, at least, they should know we will always support and cheer on the underdog. The very idea that your name is not to be mentioned, that you have become an anathema, as my Sydney friends and consultants have told me , is to us Aussies unfair in the extreme. [No they are not on this forum so stop looking. LOl! In fact they are lying very low. ]
Thank goodness for this forum where we can all join in, voice our opinions and recipe reviews in a friendly way, with people from all over the world. It amazes me every day . Let us all just play nice eh?
You go girl.
Gert on her soap box. No laughing Judy!
-
Oh Gert, I was laughing by the time I got to the bottom and your comment cracked me up. There is nothing for any of us to say - you have said it so well :-* :-*
-
Oh boy, after all those reviews, I'm just going to have to buy it!
-
Thanks Judy. Sometimes you just have to get that soapbox out and stand up and be counted. I don't know all the ins and outs but I think it could get very unpleasant for some people which is a shame. All those lurkers out there know and I think we have lost some really good consultants on the forum who are put off saying something about anything here. Even some with personal blogs are being scrutinised. That would definitely be a deal breaker with me. I am glad I moved out of Sydney to the far far north.
Hopefully they can work it out in their big heels up in Hawaii next month. Them that is allowed to go that is.
So how are things in Adelaide this summer? I am due for a trip down there soon. Might come in April just to go to the Smelly Cheese Stall in the markets. If Tenina does a class in Adelaide let me know. Only 3 1/2 hours from here.
Gert
-
Oh boy, after all those reviews, I'm just going to have to buy it!
Oh Meganjane you will not be disappointed if only for the garlic paste and dried chicken stock. Good basics.
Gert
-
Will always support tenina 😃😃😃.. Love her work!! Keep the projects coming ...
And for HO to go that far really is pathetic... Tenina is after all promoting and encouraging sales and getting people to use their kitchen wonders... Oh well their loss... Sad really!
-
Thanks Gert, you are hilarious and I would absolutely love to meet you more than ever after all that! Still chuckling!
I enjoyed my 3 years with Thermomix, I learnt so much in that job, that I can now do what I am doing with a certain amount of confidence. I certainly learnt how to put a cookbook together, I learnt so much about cooking that I am amazed, I learnt how to write a clear recipe (though some recent comments would have you believe otherwise - see Chicken Pinwheels review!!!) I learnt to love lots and lots of people mostly whom I have never met across the country and I learnt a lot about myself that I didn’t know, which is why I am out on my own now doing what I do love to do. Thanks to all for all the support and to have you love my work with such glowing reviews such as I am reading, is SO rewarding. If it wasnt for those darn 5 kids needing piano lessons, schooling, cars, clothes, food etc and me needing the occasional trip, I could do it all for free! (But don’t tell my husband I said so!)
I regret nothing. I look forward, having learnt from what has been.
xxx
-
Well Tenina you have to take to so so reviews with the good ones. You live and you learn and writing a cookbook is not so easy. Being able to take criticism with a smile is something we all should be able to do. Sometimes it is warranted and usually with good intentions. Some people are just better at rolling than others. [take note Judy!]
You know the old saying about being givien lemons and lemonade. We love your lemonade just fine.
Be grateful the kids didn't want drum lessons. There would be no peace in that.
Maybe we will meet someday. If not there is always this place to share a cuppa or a glass of.
Gert
-
Have pm'd you Gretchen :-*
-
Haha gretchen you are a character... Love it!
-
The fact that Tenina's book has been so warmly received clearly indicates that there is a need for really good cook books with photos...Something that TMX HO should have come up with a long long time ago. It is clearly filling a need and as others have said is actually promoting the exclusive use of the TMX. What can possibly be wrong with that?
BTW, given TMX HO need to control every aspect of the distribution and marketing of TMX machines, they must be grinding their teeth with despair to see New TMXs being sold by an Spanish seller on eBay for considerably less $$$ than the nearly two grand that is the current price.
Well done Tenina for your talent, skill and courage in coming up with TMX recipes. Just remember that Perth HO is not the manufacturer of the product but a distributer in Australia. Your market is Australia And beyond!
-
Yes wayyyy beyond 😃😃
-
Unfortunately, the people who matter, the wonderful consultants, will not be allowed to voice an opinion on an open unbiased forum. Very un-Australian.
On another matter, I made Teninas Calzone from For Foods Sake today and I am amazed that I did it. I took a photo of it on my iPad so if anyone can tell me how I can put it here I would appreciate it. It was not pretty but it was easy and yummy. I had actually lost interest after shopping for a lot of new ingredients compatable with the cook book. Took me three hours and a lot of money but as I said I had lost interest until this book which I was NOT going to buy.
And I made the powdered chicken stock and mine looked exactly like the photo in the book . It is an absolute must. I cannot believe the flavour. I do not have a dehydrator and don't want one but this worked perfectly in the oven.
I would really love an iPad app for the book as I missed out on a couple of things when shopping.
Gert

I love the fact that our food turns out looking much the same as Tenina's.

I love the fact that our food turns out looking much the same as Tenina's.
That is fantastic…That is my aim…real food for real people, that is pretty and appetising and rustic…
YAY…couldnt have given me better feedback!
xx
-
Cookie I get so excited because I'm not a pretty cook but. I got to say you are right. Tenina must test and test and her pics are very good.
This recipe called for ricotta but would you believe it is one of a couple of things I forgot but I found I had yet another tub of out of date cottage chees which I blended with some really out of date feta and it's scrumptious. Great recipe.
I cannot believe the depth of flavour in the powdered stock. I guess people with dehydrators would know this.
Have you got the book yet?
Gert.

Frozzie and Cornish Cream, very envious, that you both have your copy of Tenina's new book. I'm still up in the mountains, and we didn't organize to have our mail forwarded here. But I just heard from my daughter, who's at home, that 2 packages were delivered on Monday. Both look like books and are from Oz! Looking forward to getting back home this weekend!
-
I am so pleased for you Frozzie that it arrived today. :) Enjoy your books when you get back home Cheryl ;D

Yay Kim, it is a fantastic book! So glad you've finally got it. All good things come to them that wait ;)
-
I could not find out how to post a pic yet from my iPad but put it on my PC and then was able to put it above. I am so amazed that it came out like that. Impressed myself.
Now I am in the middle of making the Chicken Randeng from For Foods Sake and it smells fantastic. Also I am grateful for Helene's Super Spatula as it is so easy to use with with the large solid handle. Also learned it gets the last bits under the lid with ease. Oops, sounds like I am a fan but even the DH with Dupuytren's Contracture in his hands can control it. Be good for kids too I think.
I will never again roast spices in the fry pan or in the oven. Just walked away and the Thermomix did it perfectly. Thanks Tenina for that tip.
Might post a picture later.
Gert in wonderful smelling house.
-
Gert, have u got tapatalk for your ipad? I've got it for my iPhone and it's really easy to take a pic and post it from there.
-
Gert it sounds like you are having fun. Anyone who is wondering if they should buy Tenina's book should look here. You will love the Chicken Rendang. Happy cooking.
I'm off to Tenina's chocolate class in 15 minutes. I can't wait.
-
When is she coming to Sydney for cooking classes???? I am sure there is enough demand here as well..

Feel free Tenina. I took it on my iPad and I have no Ide how to upload it onto FB from my iPad. I can send it to you if you want or perhaps you can steal it from here.
I used, at hools suggestion, the Taptalk app which is neat or I can download it to my PC and try from there.
I did good eh? I am chuffed. And I didn't even want the book silly me.
Gert

Way to go, Gert!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Way to go, Gert!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
I m still laughing because I am not usually one to follow rules or recipes. Tomorrow I am making the carmalised garlic paste. If it is as good as the powdered chicken stock then it will be wonderful. I need more umami and the lime chilli salt is a must for me.
The thing about this cookbook is the basics then plus plus. I nearly didn't buy it but Helene's review [superkitchenmachine.com] sent me straight to the ad for the publisher. I am so glad I did. Thanks Tenina and Helene. Both of these great gals know their stuff.

Howdy stranger. Where have you been? Busy with your super spatulas I guess. Back in stock yet?
Well if it was not for your review on your blog I would not have bought For Foods Sake so you are responsible for my renewed interest in cooking. I have just peeled about 30 cloves of garlic in the thermomix http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=371.0 in preparation for making the caramelised garlic paste from the cookbook.I made the chili lime salt as well. I smell good enough to eat.
Gert
-
Ha ha, lol.
Yes, I'm busy counting spatulas right now! One thousand and six, one thousand and seven, oh darn... where was I?! ??? ;D
They are back in stock Gretchen, thanks for asking. I won't mention it here though, as I have already mentioned it just now on another thread and might be at risk of being called a spammer :o :-[ :-X
:-* ;)
-
Oops I did not fully read the recipe for the Caramelised Garlic Paste. Do NOT peel the garlic. Now I have to think about wot to do!!!!!
Gert
-
:D :D :D I was thinking whilst reading that thread Gretchen 'I don't remember peeling 30 cloves of garlic when I made that recipe'. It pays to read recipes carefully for sure.

What an idiot I am. That is what happens when you get excited! :o :o Decided I would just cook the cloves in the basket until soft then FOLLOW THE RECIPE.
Ah well it ain't the first time I have stuffed up and after a win yesterday I am not complaining.
Smelly Gert :-)) :-))

Gert

So, total success then Gretchen. Just shows there is more than one way to skin a
cat clove of garlic ;)
-
I am on a roll Judy. I am now going to make myself a Margarita and dip the glass into the chili lime salt for an extra kick. You want one?
-
Never say no to a cocktail Gretchen. I had a visitor the other day question the fact that I make a cocktail just for myself - why wouldn't I, it is no trouble in the TMX and just because DH doesn't drink there is no reason why I can't ;D
-

-
Love your photos Gretchen. Both you and Judy go on with drinking your cocktails, they would do more good than harm I'm sure.
-
Lovely photo Gretchen, if only I could remove it from the screen ;D
-
This iPad is not bad for photos is it? The next one is supposed to be better. Hummmmmmm?
Gert
-
... the next Margarita is going to be better, Gretchen? ? ?
-
Well the next Margarita was better but no I meant the next iPad maybe out next month.
I did have to use up all the limes I zested for the salt didn't I ?
Gert
-
I'm sure each margarita after the first would get better and better 😄
-
I still have the first iPad. But would love to get an iPad 2 or 3 (or what ever they will call it)
-
I just reckon you go girl!
-
So agree ... Cheers gretchen!! Jd dh doesnt drink either and it doesnt stop me from having a glass or two by myself now and then!! 😄😄😄
-
Same in this house Frozzie - except it is probably more than every now and then :D :D
-
😃😃 we are def going to have to meet up for a cocktail then next time we are in oz to visit my parents... Dh has never been up your way so thats a good excuse 😄😄
-
that would be so wonderful and you are very welcome any time xx
-
Tenina, I love your new cook book! Can't wait to start cooking. I need to go a stock up our fridge and pantry now, a 2 weeks in the mountains both are looking rather bare. chicken stock paste and malt powder are high on my list.
Frozzie and conish cream, what have you made?
-
Frozzie and conish cream, what have you made?
I would love to say I've cooked non stop from the book but it arrived after my weekly shopping day. :P As I already bought groceries to cook meals this past week I didn't rush out to buy more extra food.My head ruled my heart for a change and have spent the week making a shopping list of the things to cook this week. ;) ;D

Will do a shop hopefully tomorrow as had a bday party yesterday.. Decorated cake in the morning and party in the afternoon and sick today so the most ive done is cooked veal parmignio for lunch and went out to the park this afternoon with the kuds and a girlfriend for a couple of hours then back home to the warmth but want to make the chicken stock powder, the garlic paste and some of those desserts look delish.. Havent had five mins though to have a good look through and prepare a shopping list..will try and take to bed with me tonight if i dont fall asleep first. We dont have the lime leaves here so will have to try and source those on line as i noticed tey are in a few recipes..when are you home chdv??
-
Frozzie, is it the kaffir lime leaves you are after?
If so pm me, I have a tree & can post some to you if its legal to do so.
H :)
-
Yep thats them ok will pm you after i check if its legal or not... Wouldnt want you having any hassles or fines..
-
No worries, dont want to get in trouble for posting dodgy items. I am sure they will be fine. I will put them in zip lock bags.
H :)

The cookbook sounds wonderful. I just wish the shipping rates were more reasonable. I have entered the book twice paying via PayPal and each time I get a total that includes AUtax plus 65.00 shipping with the final total AU121.50 even though it shows my address in the US and international post.
So I cancelled and emptied the shopping bag.
In the past I have purchased many books (and other items) from OZ and have never seen these kind of shipping charges.
I don't need to have it sent express post. I usually get things in a reasonable amount of time sent regular post (unless there is a strike or some such interruption).
-
Andie I sympathatise with you. I have the post charge book in my hand. The book weighs 950 grams.
The book if sent by registered international per paid padded bag - merchandise up to 1 kilo would be $35.85.
The book if sent by registered international -parcel over 750 grams up to 1 kilo would be $36.50
The book if sent by iexpress post international - per paid satchel up to 2 kilos would be $62.85. This woild be useful if buying 2 books!
Courier service varies between $30.75 and $67.55
Sea mail is $21.40
It should take no more than 10 days for delivery depending on how it was sent.
Outrageous pricing. But the wages are very high in Australian Post. The only people sending letters these days are politicians who get massive discounts. What a massive waste of trees. Everybody else is using email. But oh wait a minute the dumb people would just ban our SPAM? If I get one more pollie letter I am returning to sender.
Oh o soap box Judy!
Gretch
-
Andi, maybe someone can take it to Hawaii & post it from there for you.
There is a chance we will be back in October, if you do t have one by then I can post it from hawaii.
H :)

Sorry it is so ridiculous too….I am going to the States in July if you can wait that long. Can bring a copy and mail it from there…email me privately if this works for you…otherwise, I am happy to send it slow boat, we dont offer that on our site due to the timing being anything from 30 - 90 days…but happy to do that if you would like me too as well. Let me know
xx
-
Andie did you try via the publishers website and not teninas as cdhv told me that intl postage wa quite a bit cheaper to europe anyway from their websit fir this book so perhaps same for the states??

This is true, we do not have the buying power clearly that the publisher does…so try that as well.
;D ;D We will get you For Food Saking if we can!
-
I could take a copy with me to hawaiii and if my sister doesn't have too much luggage she could take it to San Francisco and send it from there if you like ;) otherwise I cold post it from hawaii
-
Thanks for the offers to send it but I already have a way of getting it that will be much easier.
A friend is going to be in OZ with a camera crew for 6-8 weeks, at least, during April to June (locating sites for filming a movie) and will have room in their equipment cargo pod for things going both directions and will get the book while there.

That's good news Andie that you will get your hands on one :)
-
Good to see that your book problem has been resolved. Isn't it wonderful, the help offered from our forum family. I also have a connection going to San Francisco soon and was thinking of approaching him, but everything has worked out, so that is great.
-
Great news Andie
H :)
-
You will love the book Andie and it looks as if you were going to get it one way or another with all the offers of help.
-
A these reviews of these new cookbooks and I don't have any of them. I'm trying so hard to be good and not buy anymore. But you lot are making it almost impossible. (dishwasher fixed first then maybe I will just buy one more) 😉
😄 same here! I'm trying to contain my soul in patience and be a good girl. It's a battle of the titans between priorities v cookery book addiction. Especially when I keep hearing how good they are 😉
I know through a little bird that at least 2 of the recent independent tm books are planned as ebooks, so I'm trying to hold out for those.
-
Oh Tenina!!!
As we both know shipping to Canada was horrendous but it was sooooo worth it. Mine finally came today and I couldn't be more thrilled. It looks amazing. Gonna be a busy rest of the week for me trying them all out. The pictures are fantastic. The whole book is actually. Thank you so much ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Finally made the Beef and Ale pie and it is worthy of a glass of a great red from the Coonawarra. Absolutely delicious and nothing shrill or out of place with the flavour of this dish. A good family recipe.
Thanks Tenina.

Not bad eh cookie. I rarely do anything with pastry so am certainly no expert but the recipe was spot on as far as I am concerned.

This afternoon i have to accompany my ds class to rugby.. So not in the mood for that but i have no choice.. Keep the lovely pics coming as i can always dream about them being on my table..
-
Get well soon Frozzie. You have lots on your plate. :-*
-
Get well soon Kim, hope you survive the day out with the kids.
-
A tiny bit of good news itbstarted to rain (first time happy its miserable and raining lol) so rugby is canceled ... So relieved as dh now has gastro on top of herniated disc (mum reckons he must have killed a chinamen), dd a urinary infection and i have the flu... The universe can stop dumping on me now .. Pretty please with a cherry on top.. Oh and electrical probs with the car again.. Only ds has survived any contamination for the moment... Bring on the weekend so we can all just stay in bed...
-
Oh Frozzie . . . . don't wait for the weekend . . .just pile under the covers! What a nightmare! So glad though that you didn't get the pleasure of the rugby match. Do take extra special care of yourself . . . .as a friend of mine is fond of saying . ."This too shall pass!" . . and she's usually right ;D Just hang in there until it does!!
-
Gert you can come work on the next shoot with me!
Frozzie GET BETTER immediately so you can cook
and Woerd, yay, so glad you are excited…
xx
-
Great photo Gert 😃
-
Ooooh Tenina... you said Gert can work on the "next shoot" with you.... Does that mean there is a "first shoot" already done? Is it "in the can" as they say?
Hmmmmm???
;)
-
So long as I am on a roll I made the "this is not a baguette" from For Food Sake and it was really not a baguette Frozzie so all ok but it was good.
I expected it to have the texture of a bagel because it was steamed then baked . I was right and it was delicious.. I just plonked it down with some mashed avocado, umami paste and fresh homemade butter. For a dash of excess I added the chili lime salt. DH is still demolishing one loaf all by himself.
I'll add the photos with tap talk next.
Gert
-
I'll try again.(http://img.tapatalk.com/7bd3ca14-8f49-cfb9.jpg)
I let it rise in the Varoma then steamed it.
Baked it and there it is.

thanks for the photos, Gert! HO will be after you for the rights to those fabulous publicity shots!!!!! ;D Your end result sounds absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!! (and your DH obviously thinks so, too . . . :D
-
Gert! Did you really take that photo? Or is that the torn edge of a magazine page I see along the side of it? ;)
Simply fabulous. I think you shoud open a bakery. Or a blog. No, a bakery.
-
What's baking in the oven in the first shot?
-
Nice one Gert! Fantastic pics and the bread looks good enough to eat!
-
Good spotting andi. That would be the pizza stone :D
Gert

I can see I am going to have to try these baguettes once the weather cools down. Great series of photos Gretchen.

Fabulous-ness Gert…Hungry...
-
Great photos Gretchen. I'm very inspired.

Finally got around to making the Crio Bru Beef Chilli page 87 from For Food Sake.
Generally I do not care for the combination of spices in this recipe ie: cinnamon, allspice, cumin, paprika , coriander combined with garlic and chocolate plus chilli BUT I really like the blend very much. Really delicious and not too spicy for a family. Just different to my palate.
I did not have any Crio Bru so used raw cacao which is not the same but it did add the chocolate. You couldn't taste the chocolate or the chilli as separate flavours but entire combination was interesting and yummy. There was a lot of sauce but no problem with the rice to soak it up.
I would make it again just for something different.
Gretchen

I know this is a really old thread but I have a quick question for Tenina. I notice in response to a question from Vee on page 4 of this thread that you say you can sub crio bru for coffee. I'm really confused though cause you refer to the crio bru beef chilli as a 'chocolate' flavour. I can't see any other ingredient that would give the chocolate element to the dish apart from the crio bru. So, my question is this...what flavour is crio bru? Is it coffee or chocolate? Will any of these recipes work substituting crio bru for coffee? Thank you for any help.

Hi there,
Crio Bru is pure chocolate, and probably in the Crio bru beef chilli you will not get the traditional chocolate mole Mexican flavour if you use coffee. However, all of the recipes using Crio will hold up when subbing coffee, but there will obviously be differences in flavour, some more than others…hope this helps…
:D
-
Thank you for clearing that up for me Tenina! Love your book and really want to try ALL the recipes. Perhaps I just need to invest in some crio bru!
