Title: Bread Success - and a question about Bread Tins
Post by: Shinyknight on January 24, 2012, 05:55:20 am
Yippee!!
After having TMX for just over 12 months, and never mastering bread, my consultant recently forwarded a recipe called "Megan's Wonder Bread" - not sure if it's Meganjane from here - but it worked beautifully - except kids don't love the crust - too crusty - I put a pan of water in the bottom of oven & turned loaf out of the tin for the last few minutes - will omit these steps next time to see if less crusty - but the inside is lovely and soft :)

Still need to get a decent bread tin - I've just used a 30cm loaf tin - possibly a little too long?  and the sides not quite tall enough - does anyone have any suggestions of where to get a loaf tin - want to be able to make daily bread for sandwiches/toast when school returns.  I've had a quick look on ebay but not really sure what's the best to buy!

Amanda

(Who's very excited that she's made a decent loaf of bread - will be off to buy grains/seeds now)

Just been over to RC to see if I could answer this one for you Amanda and the recipe (http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/node/17197) is MJ's.
I bought my bread tins from a homewares store at the local shopping centre as I wanted to see them before buying to make sure they were the size I wanted but I'm sure someone will give you some links to the right size to buy over the net.

Maybe MM should  make the search box a  whole lot BIGGER so that  would direct members to it and save your encyclopaedic mind Judy. LOL!

I need to find the right size tin for the convection microwave so it's able to turn on the turn table without touching the sides. I have a really big one which is way to big for a normal loaf and I reckon it would touch the sides as it turns. More shopping for me I think.

Shiny knight, try putting the warm loaf in a plastic bag as it cools down.  The moisture will keep the crust soft.
