My TMX is 2 years old and in the last month the blades just haven't been working as well as they originally did.
Yes, I make sorbet weekly (as suggested to keep the blades sharp)
Now I have huge lumps of foods which just haven't chopped or ground up as finely as they used too.

My original bowl/blades chops food Ok but is no good on ice, huge chunks or full cubes left in the frappe I made the other day. Must remember to use my second bowl when using ice for anything.

Does anyone know how to sharpen the blades.
I read somewhere ice was a myth.

i've been told the lifespan of the blades depends on whether we have a tendency to overload our bowls, that's why when we make sorbet, we put the ice in in two lots - to put it in all at once will overload the tm. when we overload the tm, we don't actually strain the engine, but the blades - something has to give, and it's the blades. rather than the engine burning out, the blades become loose so the spindle inside spins around and the blades remain stationary. if you hold the middle bit of the blade (the black bit), and the blades are wiggly, or worse still, spin around, you need to have your blades replaced. the blades don't need sharpening, and if you're getting chunks when you never did before, it's probably because you've wrecked your blades from overload. i'm still using the same blades i got with my tm, but this happened to my friend because she thought the tm could do all her ice at once.
the blades being sharpened with ice? it's an urban myth.

If it is the blades that have gone and it is under 2 years then the blades will be replaced by Thermomix. If it is over the 2 years then you will need to purchase a set at $150.

Thats good that you can buy the blades only and not a bowl as well.

You can buy pretty much every part as a single piece except the housing (base part) of the machine.
As mentioned above make sure you stick to your maximum quantities as stated in your edc and ensure your pieces aren't too large. So Parmesan cheese 1.5cm square and frozen things no larger than an ice cube and veggies etc no bigger than the hole in the lid ;)

You also only get one set of blades within the 2 years if you are having them replaced under warranty.

Yep I only ever do ice for sorbet in two batches
over two years old
no wiggle
ran my finger over blades, no cut at all. These blades are blunt!

i had to buy a new set of blades as they had come out of the housing (they wiggled) and so werent cutting things, exact same problem as you have described
the blades are not sharp so running your fingers across them even when they are new they dont cut you.its the speed they spin at that chops the food

My consultant told me AFTER delivery that the blades should be replaced every 3 years which shocked me! I knew they would wear out eventually but for $2000 I would have hoped they'd last longer than that!!! Very disappointing!

I guess that would depend on what you do in the TM and how much you use it.
I use mine lots but I don't usually do much grinding like grains or ice.
I mainly use it for kneading, mixing, steaming and cooking.
And now I have 2 bowls that means that each bowl is doing half the work of what only having 1 bowl. So maybe I will get 6 years out of mine before they need replacing?
