Howdy all.
I'm new to TM having just bought my wife one for Christmas. It's been in the box until last night when the amazing Amanda popped over to put it thru it's paces. Well...
Can I admit, I didn't do much of a due diligence before purchase. I'd heard amazing things but couldn't quite understand the product conceptually from the snippets of information. Then we stayed at a friend's house one weekend and I saw a TM for the first time. Straight away, I could see the beautiful simplicity in how it worked. Until last night, though, I had no idea about how seamlessly and with what quality the machine was going to put the concept into action. I've just two more words on it... Amazed. Excited.
A bit about me. I'm a doctor in Melbourne. I love to cook at eat well but never have a heap of time for it. We have three children under 8. Ummm...that's all for now.

Hi GS, welcome to the forum. Poor Thermi, sitting in his box all that time - he was bound to perform wonders when you let him out ;D You would know too well the benefits of eating food made from scratch and your children will keep you busy with orders once they've tasted some of the not so healthy recipes from our dessert section. Check out CP's favourite list (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6470.0), it's a great help for those starting out - delicious recipes that get the thumbs up from those who have made them.

Hi Gazmacho Soup (from a fellow doctor) - this machine is truly a thing of wonder - does make you want to cook all kinds of things that you would never have bothered with before. Enjoy!

Hi and welcome GS. You will be amazed at all the things you'll be making soon. Before I had the TMX I thought I cooked using basics but now I make our own bread, butter and all sauces etc are made from scratch too. I've always loved cooking but now I love it even more if that is possible. I picked up some cheap apricots this morning so this afternoon will make some apricot jam and some apricot butter.
Enjoy your machine.

Well well well. Gazmacho Soup, at last you have relented and seen the light. You won't regret it! :) BTW the forum is much better for recipes than the books IMHO.
Look forward to hearing about your experiences and sharing tips!

Welcome GS ... knowing what you know now (I would bet another Thermie) that a TMX wouldn't stay in the box in your house as long as yours did this time :D :D Enjoy - we know you will!!

Thanks for the welcome all of you. The only reason Thermie stayed in the box after Christmas is that we were away and then waiting for handover. Anyhoo, it's out and proud...and doing damage to my Dukan diet success!!!
