Title: Pear paste
Post by: maddy on January 11, 2012, 11:28:07 am
Has anyone made pear paste?
I would like to make some, but unsure of sugar quantity, cooking time and getting it to set.....any suggestions?

Thanks Judy....hmmm....does that seem a lot of sugar for 4 pears, and it seems an awful long time to cook, compared to quince paste...do you think?

I have no idea, never made any fruity pastes.  Chookie might know the answer to that one, she makes a few varieties.

I have just opened some paste that I made about 3 years ago.  perfectly good,  perhaps a little dry.  I use Thermomixer's recipe and adjust it to any fruit i use.  Most important bit is to put machine in sink so it doesn't end up on the floor.  I seal it in small plastic containers that one of our members, (I love Bimby) introduced me to.
