Title: Lovely non-thermomix story
Post by: auds on December 21, 2011, 06:12:18 am
As well as being addicted to this forum I am also addicted to Bali forums  :P

I just read a lovely story on one of the forums about a lady and her husband and daughter who had booked a trip to bali for Xmas.  She recently changed the flights to leave a few days later and come back a few days later.

Yesterday they got to the airport to fly over when they were told her passport was 2 days short of the required 6 months validity (after you fly back) and she wasnt allowed to go :(

She rang the passport office and was told that due to the backlog and the Xmas break etc etc she wouldnt be able to get a passport until the 28th December at the earliest! She was going to miss most of her holiday and certainly miss Xmas with her hubby and daughter.

This morning she waited on the steps of the passport office at opening time and a lovely lady there helped her and got her a new passport within hours!

she flies out today at 5pm.

Such a lovely story which brought a little tear to my eye. - So I thought I would share it

It's wonderful to hear a kind story.
I'll add another one.

Last week an 89 year old friend wanted to do her Christmas shopping. he always bys everyone tins of biscuits. As she and her walker (trolley thing that helps her to walk without falling over) entered Woolworths a young man came up to her and asked if she required help? She said yes please. Then a lady came up and took her to the tinned biscuits, then asked if she needed wrapping paper etc so took her to that. When she had made her choices she was taken to a checkout which was opened for her. She paid and then the purchases were carried to her daughter's car.

Its so nice to hear good story's with so much bad stuff happening at the moment.

Passport office's are better to deal with than some person over the phone.

Funny story when DS was 5 days old I fronted up at the passport office, to apply for a passport for him, he was born Dec 3, chap at the counter said "why did you leave it so long to apply" Duh had the passport in 5 days.
We were flying back to PNG early Jan.

We just had to renew DS no 2 passport as he flies to Bali on the 14th Jan and was also 2 days short on his passport for his return. Luckily I was aware of this and checked with him  :D The new one arrived today phew

it only takes one person to make someones day...i always try to do something nice..even little things like letting someone pass in front of me in the supermarket who has one or two items and there are queues everywhere a mile long (and even when there arent) after several people with a huge trolley dont even budge and often when asked say no (unbelievable!).. and I always say thankyou and have a nice day when someone does something for me or says it to me..

lovely that she got her passeport but I dont know why they would say no as like chookie said there is an emergency passport service that you have your passport within 12 hours i think at a cost of course but the service is there for people i that situation or those that lose their passport or tis stolen etc..

people on phones...now there are people that drive me batty...everytime you ring you get a different answer and its never the good one!
