Post by: stef on December 19, 2011, 11:27:23 am

What do you normally use as a replacement for soy sauce  Stef?  I wonder if reduced balsamic vinegar would do the job? I'd do the reduction so that it is a richly flavoured syrup and just replace the soy sauce quantity with it. You can buy it already reduced and thick but there are plenty of recipes on the internet to be able to do it yourself.

good idea judy .. i always make my reduction of balsamic myself, can not buy the processed stuff..  but since the whole thing has to cook down i will go for a splash of balsamic vinegar

Is there a recipe for onion jam that has sultanas in it?  Just wonder what the difference is with that and Odette's without the sultanas?

There is a recipe from Thermomixer that has currants (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1722.0) in it :)
