I'm a ThermoChefer so feel a bit of a phony joining your forum. :-[
I'd love to stretch to a TM if funds would allow and if I'd known how much I'd use it.
It's just so versatile isn't it? I'm using it far more than I imagined I would. Our fridge is piling up with meals - each one delicious!
I can't take the credit of course, using my TC I feel it's done all the work for me. I bet a lot of you can relate to that.
A little bit about me. I'm in my late 30s, married with a 23 month old daughter (who I'm encouraging to join me in creating meals - not that she needs encouraging! :-)) :D). I'm a part time legal assistant and live in Melbourne but am originally from NZ.
I'm really looking forward to swapping ideas once I have some knowledge to impart!

Hello and Welcome Songria. ;D

Welcome to the forum Songria :)

Hi Songria:
Well I think this may be a 'first' but I'm not sure. How interesting to see a ThermoChef owner on the Thermomix forum. :o I will bet that I am not alone in sensing that this will make some people uncomfortable. This forum is such a warm and welcoming place ( :-* :-* :-* ) I'm sure you will feel a lot of love. But still... this is also a place where many demonstrators and Thermomix owners come to chat about ALL aspects of buying, selling, and using Thermomix. It's not a closed forum, and all eyes can read here and learn, but somehow it feels different to have 'members' who identify as ThermoChef users. Thermomix users may not mind, but the demonstrator/consultants might not be as comfortable with the idea. (juss sayin')
Let's be candid and get this out on the table. ThermoChef promotes itself as a lower-price competitor to the Thermomix and many on this forum will be uncomfortable with the presence of ThermoChef, in any capacity. Hey, I don't sell Thermomix, and I am feeling some tension all the way from Canada!
I think that because ThermoChef is sold by conventional retail channels there is a HUGE amount to be gained by that company adopting the recipes and insights of dedicated Thermomix fans. The community of Thermomix owners shares information from person to person as this is really the only method available to them, given the nature of the business model. Some of these fans may resent the usurpation of their expertise in this way.
It's no secret that ThermoChef is at a disadvantage when it comes to "community" of users and so have actively recruited for experienced Thermomix bloggers to test and review their machine. Hmmmm...
I for one am very interested to see that happens with this thread. You have certainly added some spice to the forum Songria!

Thanks for the welcome fundj, JulieO, judydawn and Cornish Cream. :)
ThermomixBlogger, I'm not the first Thermo Chef user here (there is a thread on Thermo Chefs), but I'll bow out gracefully now as my intention was not to make people feel "uncomfortable" and have you feel "tension all the way from Canada".

Loving food & cooking seems to be the prime requirements to join and contribute to this forum so WELCOME to the forum Songria :)

Well once again I seem to have reacted with a knee-jerk speed on the behalf of others. Apologies for that, if I've offended anyone. I see now that there is a long thread of mixed comments about ThermoChef elsewhere on this forum and I suppose nobody questions the mix but me.
I couldn't help feeling sensitive on behalf of Thermomix consultants who, from what I've read here and elsewhere can have a hard time of it. I don't think they are too thrilled about having to increasingly "defend" Thermomix when challenged at demos, on the forum, and probably as they stand in the grocery store lineup and drop the kids off at school. (Goodness knows it must be hard enough to sell such an expensive machine using an outdated sales model!)
There was a time when TMX consultants did a lot of "shop talk" on this forum but I suppose they're now finding other ways of getting together for off-forum demonstrator chit-chat. I have to wonder though, if maybe the forum will change its name cuz if the dollar speaks and the competition gains a greater market share... will it still be a "Thermomix" forum? I guess the positive side of this picture is that the ThermoChef company must be thrilled beyond belief. In this forum they have a vast and vibrant deep-rooted community already in place to support all their customers at no cost to them! What's not to love about that?! Even better: the forum is moderated :o ! .... Oh -- and by volunteers :-* ! Hello? I have to wonder if ThermoChef is selling shares publicly because without having to pay for any supportive infrastructure, they must have quite the profit margin going on over there... Probably laughing all the way to the bank. ;D
Don't get me wrong -- I'm not bashing ThermoChef, but I am questioning a few things. Of course any discussion (esp. controversy) will benefit both brands and since I don't work for either company I have no vested interest. (Sure, I'm an unauthorized and unaffiliated volunteer TMX blogger today, but as we're seeing, things can change...) Oh yes, as I was saying, it doesn't matter to me either way but things certainly are spicy at the Thermomix table these days...
;)

Thanks so much cookie1, trudy and Master Moderator, for making me feel so welcome. :)

Welcome Songria.
The enjoyment of food and friendship is very important.
I don't think it matters how we cook or what machines or gadgets we use, we can all learn from each other and share our experiences and many traditions from around the world.
I look forward to sharing the food and friendship with you Songria.

Thanks very much Bootobethin! What a lovely welcome.
I agree entirely. I hope to travel via cooking and also contribute recipes from NZ (Aus seems to be pretty well covered ;D ) as time (and experience!) permits.

Welcome. As a fellow soon to be TC owner,( just over a week to go) I know where your coming from. I guess I wanted to join because of the friendship and knowledge in this style of cooking. I think the thermomix is a superior machine, have no affiliation with TC and have no intention of getting inside info or recipes etc back to TC.
I know I will have to tweak recipes here for my machine, and once I up,lad recipes I've found that adapted well, you TMX owners will have to do the same. Ultimately the tastes should be the same and be ale to be shared and enjoyed.
I don't think any TC owners are here to compete, or say they are better. I don't believe TMX owners need to defend their product or why they bought it etc. I know the rules clearly state this is independent of TMX , but as it has been the only machine of its style, it has naturally only has TMX owners, plus sellers involved.
Maybe the name will change one day, but for now I'm enjoying being part of a friendly cooking and recipe community. I'm trying some recipes with what I have now (which is certainly proving difficult with some of them, having no food processor as such) but loving the inspiration.
Thanks to all who are happy for us to be here and share cooking hints and tips for this great style of cooking. (my best friend has a TMX, so have seen it around for awhile... Just couldn't get hubby onside. She is thrilled for me, and I can't wait for Xmas. ) cheers and merry Xmas all.

Hi and welcome from another ThermoCheffer. And Songria, Please don't leave.
From what I read the forum is not affiliated with Thermo Mix. It is quite clearly written in 1.2 of the Rules.
I lurked about for a while before joining (While I was still waiting for TC to be delivered) and noticed other TC owners on here.
I have always felt welcome here and if I am making other members uncomfortable I have not detected any tension from here on the "Sunshine Coast'.
More the opposite really. No one is competing. I think we are here with the same interest in cooking good healthy food using what we have and is within our budget. And the desire to share and learn from like minded people.
Like Lilli33, I have shared a couple recipes already that I have adapted. I hope that they will be used and further tweaked by TM, TC or even a Kenwood Cooking Cheffer if any are around on the forum.
Go Thermo Thingo's

welcome Songria. Its great to have some ThermoCheffers on the forum. and we all benefit by your presence. I think its great that you can also adapt the recipes to suit your machine (I have heard that the TC runs a little hotter) so just be prepared for some slight differences. The great thing about the TC is the price, and the price, and the price. The main benefit not to forget is the similar usage for healthy recipes by adaptation that will be good for you in the long run.
-
Hello Songria and welcome! As an avid TMX fan I cannot envisage using anything else, but it is interesting to hear views from people who have other machines. In fact, I would never have even heard of the TC if it wasn't for this forum as here in the UK the TC is a range of meat thermometers produced by Terraillon and not a cooking machine. We only have TMX, Kenwood Cooking Chef and the Hotmix Pro as far as I know.
As others have said, you will need to adapt the recipes here for your machine, but I am sure it will soon become second-nature. Happy cooking!

Thanks Emma, they are coming thick and fast today.

What was reported?
-
the spammer Lilli33 :)
-
We've had a mad spammer all afternoon/early evening Lilli - members report these things and then moderators delete the message. We have certainly been kept busy today. I'll go around and delete some of the 'reported' threads too.

Ah thanks. Being a virgin member... I'm not up with it. That's guys.
