This is my first post, so I hope at all works out OK. I'm a sucker for anything with Golden Syrup and this is the TM adaption of a recipe I've been making for quite a while.
Line the bottom of a greased 200mm (8 inch) round cake tin. Set the oven to 160C (F/F) or 180C (normal)
Ingredients:
250g Unsalted Butter - straight out of the fridge is OK but chop the butter up a bit
220g Dark Brown Sugar
1 tbsp Golden Syrup - but it's OK to add a bit more if, like me, you love the stuff
2 eggs
225g SR Flour
125g milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Place all the ingredients in *: and mix for 25-30 seconds on speed 5. scrape down the sides and mix on speed 5 for another 20 seconds - or until it looks nice and smooth.
Pour into prepared tin and bake for 50-60 minutes. (I find that 55 minutes works perfectly in my oven.)
Allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes or so and then place onto a cake rack.
Forget about the icing - it's sweet and luscious enough, but a good dusting of icing sugar makes it look (and taste) great!
It also makes a great pudding. Just serve warm slices with cream, custard or even a great butterscotch sauce.
Enjoy!!

auds - Cake was yumbo....... number 1 son just had it warmed up and served with ice-cream for dessert. It lasted about ten seconds and he declared it awesome. This was really so easy and did not need sauce to have as a pudding. Thanks very much.
Hally - Delicious, thank you. Will make this regularly. Be warned dangerous, the cake was eaten in 1 day.
Uni - i completely missed the 1st ingredient (butter) but it still was good.
Dublin Girl in Oz - very nice, will bake again. Thanks for recipe.
jkmt - It was lovely and light, although a bit crumbly. Or maybe that was because it was so fresh when we consumed it! Very nice. Thanks.
Suzie G - the mixture was amazing! Can't wait to eat the cake! So quick and easy to make too. Thanks.
Chelsea - it was lovely. The smell of it baking is absolutely divine!
courton - Had unexpected visitors this morning and so tried this recipe since I had all the ingredients. Got a big thumbs up from our visitors. Will definitely make it again.
Had this with butterscotch sauce and ice cream after heating the cake in the oven. OMG. This is a hit!!!!
Moo2 - This was so easy to make and yummy to eat. Thanks for posting. Will definitely be making again.
maddy - Delish. Made into cupcakes, cooked on 170oC for 18 minutes, and mix made 20 cupcakes. Topped with some fresh cream whipped with a Tbspn Golden syrup. I did cut sugar down to 200g.
medusa - This was delish. Thank you. Also mine didn't rise that much, is that normal? Didn't matter because it is yummy.
This cake has been a big hit in my house, made it twice for guests too and everyone enjoyed it, even my non dessert loving hubby.
VHJ - This is a fantastic recipe. Very easy and tastes great. I had some leftover Coconut Cream in the fridge so whipped up Ayla's Banana & Coconut Ice-cream (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2177.0) and had that with the cake for dessert. Yum
Dizzy Girl - All I can say is ABSOLUTE YUM. Made this last night and it was so delicious. The phone rang whilst I was pouring the milk in and accidentally added 150g and it didn't affect the cake at all. So light and moist. Definitely will make again.
keiramax - Thanks Busterman - have just made this. The batter tasted yum so can't wait until it's cooked. Will have to cut it up and put some into the freezer otherwise I'll eat it quickly. Not good when I'm trying to lose weight. I can't resist temptation.
knittercook - I make this recipe weekly now, it has become our favourite cake in this house and I love how quick and easy it is to make and the taste is divine.
LeeJ - Well, I had to sub out some ingredients, as listed below:
220 lite nuttelex
30gm oil
160 brown sugar
40 caster sugar
almond milk
Still worked fine, thanks.
Denzelmum - Love this cake! It freezes well too. To defrost, I just put a slice on the microwave for 10-15 seconds. Yum.
Katya - I made this cake last week as a result of losing a bet with someone. I was so convinced I wouldn't lose that I agreed a cake as the penalty..... I have never had a success making cakes but I thought I'd give this a go. The batter tasted great (even though I forgot to put in the vanilla). The cake wasn't so successful as it was too cooked on the outside and undercooked in the middle. That was totally down to me not having enough experience of cooking cakes in the Aga. The bet winner ate 2 pieces and OH has just taken the last piece with him to work. They both said it tasted really good.
Twitterpated - I have just taken this out of the oven. The whole house smells great. Taking it for morning tea with friends. Just waiting for it to cool before dusting with icing sugar.
Kissmypixel - wow, delicious!!!! Will make regularly for sure.
JD - Made this recipe in my individual heart tins, baked 170oC for 35 minutes - it makes 6. Check for doneness at 30 mins. Lovely recipe, so easy and tastes great. I sprayed the tins with quite a lot of canola oil and they just fell out - I must admit I was a little surprised it was so easy.
faffa 70 - I made this for the second time this week today... everyone loves it.
GF -They look gorgeous! And this recipe can't be beaten for simplicity, speed . . and that wow factor!! May I ask if there's a secret to getting 6 perfect little cakes? I also made the same recipe in the same cake tin . . . . but I only scored 2/6 that came out of the pan properly. The others had bits and pieces that stuck to the tin Maybe I didn't oil the pan properly . . . . . any advice you can offer, JD, would be really appreciated!
Just realised I was using maple syrup instead of golden syrup, still tasted good.
JD - GF, I sprayed the tins with quite a lot of canola oil and they just fell out - I must admit I was a little surprised it was so easy.
snappy - This cake is a favorite in our house. I made it again today but thought I might try steaming it in the Varoma instead of baking it - I've got a real love affair going with the Varoma at the moment and I'm steaming just about everything that can be steamed (and some things that can't!) I steamed it for about 50 mins / Varoma temp / speed 4. Came up deliciously moist and almost fudgy like a caramel mud cake. Good for days when it is just too hot to turn on the oven! I put it in a silicone cake tin.
greenie - YAY, this recipe is failsafe too - looks delish! Made these as cupcakes. OMG!!!! They are sooooooo good!
amie78 - OMG if the batter is anything to go by this is going to be delicious.
cecilia - thank you for a recipe that proved extremely popular. No leftovers. Lots of smiley faces. Lots of yums.
courton - I have made the cake twice now. Once as a normal cake and once poured into muffin moulds. Both times the cakes were delicious but both times the cake rose quite a lot and split in the middle. Cake specialists out there, what am I doing wrong? The temperature was the temperature provided by Busterman for the cake and one provided by Maddy (?) for the cupcake size.
Deniser - Delicious! Have just put half in the freezer otherwise it will disappear this afternoon. My cake also cracked on the top- not that it bothers me as I will cover it with cream, ice-cream or butterscotch sauce - or I could just eat it the way it is. Will try a lower shelf and perhaps a little lower temperature next time. I cooked at 160 degrees in fan forced oven for 55 minutes. Very handy quick, easy and versatile recipe to have.
maddy responding to Courton....for the average sized cupcake I cooked on 170oC (no fan), for about 18 minutes. No cracks.
For the slightly deeper rose cupcakes, using the silicone trays.....I baked them on 175oC, for 25 minutes (no fan).
I never use fan forced for any cakes or cupcakes.....and usually cook them on 170oC/175oC maximum......as when the oven is hotter, they rise too high, and sometimes crack and peak too much.
Katiej - I made these today in my heart shape cake tin (as Judy did previously). I've been meaning to make this cake for ages. The uncooked cake batter tasted lovely, so I can't wait to eat the cake.
medusa - Uni do you have a good butterscotch sauce recipe? I made this cake today for the kids arvo tea (as a treat) and as always turned out great.
Uni - this butterscotch sauce is very nice http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7078.0 but i mainly use the one that's in the EDC .
Yvette - I made this following the instructions to the letter. The cake was rising on the outside only and starting to brown so turned oven down to 160oC, (was on 180oC) then the middle eventually started to rise but the outside was crusty. It tasted ok not sure if I did anything wrong.
Amy - I made this today. Very nice and moist. I did reduce the sugar to 170g. Thanks for the recipe.
TAT - Mine cracked a bit on the top but I just sprinkled it with icing sugar! So delicious. It's perfect as a tea time treat and also makes a great dessert with just some ice cream. The only problem is that it tastes TOO good!
inthekitchen - I made this today & my kids are demolishing it! This is definitely going to be a regular in our house. I'm amazed at how moist & syrupy it tastes, from only 1 T of golden syrup. I love that is uses normal pantry & fridge items & is really cheap to make too. Thanks heaps for posting this recipe.
Frozzie - We love this cake.. Very tasty!
Moo2 - Made this as cupcakes yesterday and only 4 left! Very yummy.
Thermo18 - Have made this again as everyone loves it. Used my new cake tin and so happy it worked.
matmob - This was an absolute hit. (How could it not be with all that butter). I served it as a cake with dusted icing sugar but will try as a dessert another time. Thanks so much for a great recipe.
BZB - Love it!
Kimmyh - Made a half batch today and cooked in cupcake wrappers as per Maddy's tips. It's a great recipe.
Crompo - this is my 'go to' cake for work functions. I generally make it as cupcakes. I have given the recipe to a few people and now I have heard it has been posted on facebook as 'my' recipe. Apologies to Busterman who originally posted the recipe and thanks once again for such a scrummy cake.
-
Hi Busterman, welcome to the forum with your first posting - such an easy recipe, thank you.
-
welcome to the forum, did you say butterscotch sauce :-)) yum
-
Wow, what a way to enter the forum. That recipe sounds delicious. By the way, welcome.
-
my kind of recipe - easy and yummy :)
-
ok I tried this this afternoon. With 15 mins to go (setting timer for 50 mins) I got a call from some girlfriends to come and have a quick wine.......
what to do? leave the cake in the oven and turn it off? cook for the whole 50 mins and not go for drinkies??
I ended up doing it for 55 mins and taking it out of the oven and leaving it to cool while I went for drinks LOL ;D
Cake was yumbo....... number 1 son just had it warmed up and served with icecream for dessert.
It lasted about ten seconds and he declared it awesome.
This was really so easy and did not need sauce to have as a pudding.
Thanks very much
-
Thanks for the feedback Auds. I'm pleased your son likes it. We've tried it warmed up with a dollop of cream - not slimming but great. Custard works well also. ;)
-
This is in the oven. DH & DS have been fighting over the bowl & spatula.
When i was out of earshot (well they thought I was) DH told DS, theres no more, mummy put the rest in rhe cake!!!!! Oh no said ds.
So it seems like it is going to be a big hit.
H :)
-
Delicious, thank you
Will make this regularly
H :)
Be warned dangerous, the cake was eaten in 1 day :o
-
lol thats some cake to be devoured in one day! Was it just the three of you Hally :D
-
WeI had a little help, but not much, we had it for afternoon tea 5 of us, then dh warmed up the rest and we all hoed in with cream, naughty naughty, naughty. Licking chops, like puppy dogs, tails wagging, hoping there was more. ;D
H :)
-
Made this last week - very nice will bake again.
Thanks for recipe.
Sylvia
:)
-
I've just printed this off and will have to try it over the weekend, maybe for DH to take to car club. then I can just have a nibble before it goes.
-
I made this a couple of days ago. It was lovely and light, although a bit crumbly. Or maybe that was because it was so fresh when we consumed it! Very nice. Thanks.
-
Oooh, can't wait totey this one.... A cake that can be used as a pudding and soooo easy! Might see if I can find a recipe for a butterscotch sauce ;) ;) ;)
-
Here's Robyn's Butterscotch sauce recipe (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7078.0) Lilli.
-
I whipped this up yesterday for DH to take to car club. I just noticed he left it on the bench. :D :D
-
Great thanks JD. Am sure this one will be a winner!
-
I whipped this up yesterday for DH to take to car club. I just noticed he left it on the bench. :D :D
Will the club send your DH back for it Cookie :D :D
-
He said he remembered when he was nearly there! When he got home he had a coffee and sat down and ate almost half of the cake., Most unlike him, perhaps he felt guilty. ;) ;)
-
What a great DH Cookie - he was saving you all those calories (plus felt a little bit of guilt too that you had gone to the trouble and he had forgotten it).
-
True. :D :D
-
That doesnt surprise me cookie, we ate the cake in one dat ;D
H :)
-
This is in the oven now for afternoon tea....the mixture was amazing! Can't wait to eat the cake!
So quick and easy to make too.
Thank you!
-
Made this again yesterday, gone in one day. It is soooo good.
H :)
-
I made this last week and it was lovely. The smell of it baking is absolutely divine! :)
-
Had unexpected visitors this morning and so tried this recipe since I had all the ingredients. Got a big thumbs up from our visitors. Will definitely make it again. :)
-
omg i am a complete nut i could kick myself, i completely missed the 1st ingredient (butter) :o
in the oven now :(
-
This was so easy to make and yummy to eat. Thanks for posting. Will definitely be making again.
Hally, I can see how this could have been devoured in 1 day. Not much left of mine which I made this morning.
-
Delish :-*
Made into cupcakes, cooked on 170c for 18 minutes, and mix made 20 cupcakes
(http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt266/nachothecat/6898822a.jpg)
Topped with some fresh cream whipped with a Tbspn. Golden syrup.
I did cut sugar down to 200g.
-
Looks fabulous! How did you do the cream on top?
-
Courton, just pop a Wilton 2D tip into a piping bag, position your knuckles to face 90 degrees, and turn and squeeze piping bag to 12 o'clock position.....instant cream flower ;)
-
Just perfect maddy ;D
-
maddy, are you able to take a pic please of what the Wilton 2D tip looks like from the bottom? Might have something similar in my little bag of goodies that will do something similar
-
Impressive! :)
-
CP maddy is off line now so i will show u what they look like ;D
-
thanks fundj I checked and I haven't got one similiar :'(
-
CP, any tip resembling a star shape should work....or experiment with the tips you have, you might come up with a really cool design ;)
Practice on grease proof paper, and scoop it back into your piping bag when your happy with the design.
-
This was delish. Thank you
Also mine didn't rise that much si that normal, Didn't matter because it is yummy.
-
This is a fantastic recipe. Very easy and tastes great. I had some leftover Coconut Cream in the fridge so whipped up Ayla's Banana & Coconut Icecream (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2177.0)and had that with the cake for dessert. Yum
-

-
All I can say is ABSOLUTE YUM. Made this last night and it was so delicious. The phone rang whilst I was pouring the milk in and accidentally added 150g and it didn't affect the cake at all. So light and moist. Definately will make again.
-
Maddie, are there any tricks to getting your cupcakes so even on the top. I always have trouble and have given up with cupcakes in my oven the heat is so uneven even with a thermometer is hard to get the positioning correct.
-
Are they uneven without using the fan wonder?....maybe you may need to try lowering temp. Or lessen cooking time if using the fan. Generally I won't use the fan for baking ( cupcakes in particular).....but maybe you may need to, to regulate the heat and keep heat flow even ???
It can be tricky finding the right rack height, temp. Setting etc.....sometimes I think some ovens are just rubbish for baking! (like my old one :-)))
I do use a smaller ice cream scoop, so the amount of batter is exact in every case, and often I will smooth the tops of batter with a spoon if it's a thicker batter.
.......if all else fails, maybe it might be an option for you to purchase an electric cupcake maker.
-
. . . . . . an electrric cupcake maker . .? :o :o :o
-
I've never heard of these so had to go poking around the net!! wow!!! Is this something else I can't possibly live without? :-)) :-))
http://www.cupcakemaker.org/electric-cupcake-maker/electric-cupcake-maker/
-
Thanks Maddie, I've tried all the things you've mentioned but think it is just my hopeless oven. it's a large SMEG and I've hated since the first month I've had it, hoping it will break down again soon and we can just buy another one. I'm definitely not buying an electric maker I don't make many so it would sit in the cupboard and not get used.
-
Thanks Busterman - have just made this. The batter tasted yum so can't wait until it's cooked. Will have to cut it up and put some into the freezer otherwise I'll eat it quickly. Not good when I'm trying to lose weight. I can't resist temptation.
-
Had this with butterscotch sauce and ice cream after heating the cake in the oven. OMG. This is a hit!!!!
-
I can imagine that it would have been amazing.
-
Courton, that woud be amazing. Mine never asts until dinner, gone by lunch, the whole cake.
H :)

I have just taken this out of the oven. The whole house smells great. Taking it for morning tea with friends. Just waiting for it to cool before dusting with icing sugar.

Love this cake! It freeze well too. To defrost, I just put a slice on the microwave for 10-15 seconds. Yum..

I made this cake this afternoon, wow, delicious!!!! Will make regularly for sure.
-
Made this recipe in my heart tin, baked 170C for 35 minutes - it makes 6. Check for doneness at 30 mins. Lovely recipe, so easy and tastes great.
-
Oh JD how gorgeous. Are the white hearts choccie or icing. They look fab. Well done, very professional too!
-
It's just cream and coulis Lilli. When you unmould the cakes it has an indentation on the bottom (which becomes the top) so I just poured the cream in there.
-
Sheer brilliance !
-
They look magical JD .... No way I would post a picture of my cake - I think I wasn't born with the baking gene ;D ;D
-
Gorgeous Judy. :)
-
Thanks girls, no big effort on my part. A perfect set of tins, a perfect recipe and just a little addition by me. :-*
-
I made this for the second time this week today... everyone loves it.
-
hi JD - I have to agree - you wouldn't find any better by any professional!! They look gorgeous! And this recipe can't be beaten for simplicity, speed . . and that wow factor!! May I ask if there's a secret to getting 6 perfect little cakes? I also made the same recipe in the same cake tin . . . . but I only scored 2/6 that came out of the pan properly. Have you tried the cake release paste that fundj postedca while back?? Works a treat... Nothing sticks!!
-
Here is the recipe...

Sorry dont know how o link properly on tapatalk...
Oh and it was cc who found it, fundj who converted itvand cookie who posted it lol...
-
Lol. So it was a group effort then 😄
-
Frozzie! Thanks heaps for the link . . . and to CC for finding this . . .fundj for the conversion . . .and to cookie for posting it!! . . a formidable team!!! ;) Will be making this today! I thought I was being so good and so careful oiling all the appropriate surfaces in those little heart shaped moulds but 4 out of the 6 came out quite "broken hearted" so sad . . . . . :(
-
Goldfish, I sprayed the tins with quite a lot of canola oil and they just fell out - I must admit I was a little surprised it was so easy.
-
Your cakes look so cute Judy. Are you preparing for Valentines Day? :D :D
-
Just a trial run for tomorrow's visit of master 3.5 - I thought he might like to make his Mum some love heart cakes for Valentines Day. We would normally go out to lunch on Valentine's Day but if babysitting once a fortnight clashes with what we would normally do, it takes priority these days. I'll have my favourite 2 men to spend the day with tomorrow now.
-
Thanks JD . .thinking back over it I was probably just too light handed . . it's such a great recipe and just goes so well with that caketin!! I'll be trying it again soon.
-
. . moments! . . senior? . . blonde?? Just realised I was using maple syrup instead of golden syrup . . . :-)) still tasted good :D
-
;D goldfish when i 1st made this cake i forgot 2 add the butter, it still was good ;D
-
This cake is a favorite in our house. I made it again today but thought I might try steaming it in the Varoma instead of baking it - I've got a real love affair going with the Varoma at the moment and I'm steaming just about everything that can be steamed (and some things that can't!)
I steamed it for about 50 mins / Varoma temp / speed 4. Came up deliciously moist and almost fudgy like a caramel mud cake.
Good for days when it is just too hot to turn on the oven!
-
Thanks snappy, that's handy to know. Did you put the mixture into a casserole dish or did you use a tin?
-
I put it in a silicone cake tin JD
-
Thanks snappy, I never thought of silicone :-)) I have one the perfect size for the varoma.
-
Thanks Snappy, that sounds perfect ;D
-
Wow Snappy sounds like a good plan, i have some silicone moulds.
Will give this a go. I usually make this in my silicone square mould anyway.
H :)
-
Yummy again!
-
Gee whizz Maddy . . . just when I'm trying my darndest to stay away from the shopping thread . . . you go and pop this up here!! Where did you find that gorgeous mould? ;D ;D ;D
-
Maddy they look so so good.
-

No problm ... What did you think of it.. I love the stuff.. Hasnt failed me yet and lasts for ages..
And dede.. What a group it is 😊
By the way dede .. How are you coping??
-

Hope everything is looking up in your world . . . you and your DH have been through quite a bit lately. It'll be spring where you are in the not too distant future . . . something to look forward to!! :D :D :D

Things are much better thx .. Still on the mend but better than it was and def looking forward to spring and some warmer weather...😃😃😃
-
LOL . . . sorry . . got my wires crossed there a bit!! :-)) :-)) :-)) yes, of course it was the cake that tasted just wonderful!!! ;D ;D The release mixture is great . . . wouldn't be without it now. ;D ;D
-
YAY, this recipe is failsafe too - looks delish!
-
OMG if the batter is anything to go by this is going to be delicious.
-
Dear busterman, Just a note to thank you for a recipe that proved extremely popular at our babyshower today. No leftovers. Lots of smiley faces. Lots of yums. :)
-
Thanks Cecelia. I'm pleased everyone enjoyed it.
Good luck. :D
-
Made these yesterday as cupcakes. OMG!!!! :o the are sooooooo good!
Thanks for the recipe :)
-
I have made the cake twice now. Once as a normal cake and once poured into muffin moulds. Both times the cakes were delicious but both times the cake rise quite a lot and split in the middle. Cake specialists out there, what am I doing wrong? The temperature was the temperature provided by Busterman for the cake and one provided by Maddy (?) for the cupcake size.

After following this thread for a week or two I finally gave in and made this today. Delicious! Have just put half in the freezer otherwise it will disappear this afternoon. My cake also cracked on the top- not that it bothers me as I will cover it with cream, icecream or butterscotch sauce- or I could just eat it the way it is. Will try a lower shelf and perhaps a little lower temperature next time. I cooked at 60 degrees in fan forced oven for 55 minutes. Very handy quick, easy and versatile recipe to have. :D
-
I think you must mean 160oC Deniser ;)

Courton.....for the average sized cupcake I cooked on 170c (no fan), for about 18 minutes. No cracks.

:D....Sorry goldfish, just spotted your question.
They were silicone rose ones, willow brand, from Kmart......only $12.00. Each tray has 6 roses. Just sprayed them liberally with sprink.
-
Oops! Yes judydawn - I do mean 160 degrees C.
-
Maddy, I normally do not use fan forced. I followed your previous instructions but because my muffin containers were larger it took 28 mins at 170 - with cracks.
-
Maddy - thanks! They certainly look very beautiful!! :)
-
Hmm, strange one courton :-\ Have you checked your oven temperature with a thermometer lately?
-
Bumping this for the newbies.
EB has requested this today. It was the first cake I made him & he loves it.
H :)
-
Thanks for the bump! Was looking for something delicious to make today :)
-
:D....Sorry goldfish, just spotted your question.

What is sprink?
-
It's a non stick spray. - I think it's canola oil, but I can't check for you as my can was empty and I threw it away.

Yep, basically it is canola oil

They were silicone rose ones, willow brand, from Kmart......only $12.00. Each tray has 6 roses. Just sprayed them liberally with sprink.

Thanks, Maddy - they are lovely!! :D
-
Thanks. I will have to look out for it.
-
Oh my this sounds divine! It's on my weekly list for next week :)
-
it is Miss 50s and if you make a butterscotch sauce to go with it will be extra special thats what they say , i would not know :-))
-
I made these today in my heart shape cake tin (as Judy did previously). I've been meaning to make this cake for ages. The uncooked cake batter tasted lovely, so I can't wait to eat the cake.

-
They look beautiful, Katiej -it's a lovely cake and that cake tin is wonderful! I bought one after seeing the results that Judy and others produced with it . . .I'm sure you'll enjoy it just as much as the uncooked batter when the tastetest time comes! :D
-
We share one Katie, they are big little cakes.
-
They are big (you'd be eating one sixth of the cake if you ate one on your own and that's a lot of butter & sugar).
Not sure how I'll go getting my DH to eat only half of one though ;D
I bought that cake tin months ago after seeing it one here, but I'd never used it until today.
-
They are yummy - with or without butterscotch sauce!
-
Uni do you have a good butterscotch sauce recipe? I made this cake today for the kids arvo tea (as a treat) and as always turned out great.
-
this one is very nice http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7078.0 but i maily use the one thats in the EDC
-
I made this on the weekend following the instructions to the letter. The cake was rising on the outside only and starting to brown so turned oven down to 160 was on 180 then the middle eventually started to rise but the outside was crusty. It tasted ok not sure if I did anything wrong
-
just bumping this favourite for newbies ;D
-
This cake is a definite family favourite here too!
-
I made this today. Very nice and moist. I did reduce the sugar to 170g.
Thanks for the recipe :)

-
Thanks Kimmy :)
-
Just bookmarked this to make this week. Sounds delicious!!
-
Mine cracked a bit on the top but I just sprinkled it with icing sugar! So delicious. I is perfect as a tea time treat and also makes a great dessert with just some ice cream. The only problem is that it tastes TOO good! ;D
-
Nice job TAT!! :D :D
-
All I can say is WOW!! And love the plate!! This cake is one of my all time favourites.. And friends and those at work agree! :)

Goldfish and Amy - thanks! You guys are too kind! The plate is corking isn't it - and I got it at a charity shop! It's a double whammy, delicious cake and pretty plate! :)
-
Just had to make this for dessert tonight. Great cake thats really easy to make and scrumptious.
-
I made this today & my kids are demolishing it! This is definitely going to be a regular in our house. I'm amazed at how moist & syrupy it tastes, from only 1 T of golden syrup. I love that is uses normal pantry & fridge items & is really cheap to make too. Thanks heaps for posting this recipe :)!
-
We love this cake.. Very tasty!

Made some the othercday, nearly gone. We all love it :)

this is my 'go to' cake for work functions. I generally make it as cupcakes. I have given the recipe to a few people and now I have heard it has been posted on facebook as 'my' recipe. Apologies to Busteman who originally posted the recipe and thanks once again for such a scrummy cake.

Thanks for the bump, Snappy, I had missed this cake altogether. It's DH's birthday at the weekend so I think there is more than an average chance this will be his birthday cake!

It's worth it cuildh. Such a lovely moist caramel flavour

I agree the flavour is fantastic.
