Title: DEODORANT
Post by: Yvette on November 20, 2011, 07:32:49 am
Hi there does anyone have any natural deodorant remedies. My husband cannot wear any deodorant at the moment they leave red marks all under his arms, he has tried sensitive ones as well. As you can imagine he needs it at this time of the year.

I've made Chrissy's version of this (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5016.0) one Yvette, it can be runny in summer and firms up in winter.

Judy did you mix this in the TM or just by hand? Do you have to heat the coconut oil? Thanks

Yvette, if your coconut oil has solidified just heat it on 37o as Nay Nay did, then add the other ingredients and mix on a low speed until it all comes together which is what I did.

This is all very interesting.  I rushed out to the kitchen and made some.  Great fun ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  It is a bit runny but I think it will set up a bit over night.  Thanks to all who have contributed to this post.

That was quick Chookie, handy having all the ingredients - not that there are many but I guess not everyone has coconut oil in their pantry.

Judy,  i have a large tin of Organic Coconut oil that Anita my lovely consultant gave me.  Seems a bit of an extravagance to rub it under the arms. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have just found this when looking at what are you cooking.  My husband suffers with lumps in his armpits when he uses shop purchased deodorant after a few days.  I have tried everything on the market, even the crystal type. but still they do not work, and he really does need to use deodorant. Judydawn and Yvette, how did you find this one works with fighting body odour, and the side effects of the normal deods?. Also do you just purchase the Coconut oil at a health food shop? Thanks

This one doesn't work for me,  but does for many others.  It causes a rash on the second day.

PP, my DH has never had trouble with bought deodorant until a few months ago when he started having huge red splotches under his armpits after using it.  He went without for ages until I finally got around to making this for him.  I think he was quite surprised it worked!  No redness at all.  I know coconut oil is available from health food shops but whether the supermarkets stock it or not, I am not sure.

Pumpie Pie I purchased the coconut oil from the health food shops, didn't find this deodorant overly effective. I was talking to a girlfriend and she told me about this deodorant which you can purchase in Coles or Woolies it doesn't contain aluminium, my DH hasn't had a problem since using this (about 3 months now).

It is in a purple pump spray the brand is Redwin.

I read somewhere recently to use milk of magnesia as a deodorant - I asked at the Chemist Warehouse and they didn't stock it, said try a health food shop.

Milk of magnesia is sold in rollon bottles in the USA as a deodorant. I suspect they must thicken it a bit as the stuff is quite runny from memory (grandma's favorite indigestion treatment).
