Title: Buttercream & overheating bowl/blade issue
Post by: teagg on November 14, 2011, 08:18:52 pm
Dear all
I have a trend who is having challenges making her buttercream - whilst it's hot here in Aus at the moment her bowl and blade seem to be warming up too much so that her butter in her frosting/icing is melting.
Do any of you have any advice or suggestions that I can pass onto her?

FYI - when making coleslaw her bowl base & blades also warmed/heated up too!
And no she's not been turning on the heating in the TMX!

TIA
really appreciate any help

Regards
Gillian

I think there must be a problem as cole slaw only takes a few seconds to make.  Not sure how long she is creaming butter and sugar.

Gillian, get your friend to ring her consultant or H.O. as she has a problem.  It has happened before but I cannot find that reference at the moment.  With what she is doing, there should be no heat unless she presses one of the temperature buttons and as she is not doing that, she needs to have it looked at.

I agree. If she is not pressing any of the temperature buttons the bowl will only heat up when working hard, eg kneading for a while or when hot ingredients are added to it.
Get in touch with her consultant quick.

The same thing happened to my TM after two months of use. Apparently there is a problematic chip that needs replacing. I took it back to the HQ and got it done in 15 mins. A word of advice to TM owners who still have the TM in the box or just idling on your kitchen counter (I know of some), test your machine to the max during this 2-year guarantee period!
