I am Rosie and I live in the hinterland above the Sunshine Coast with my partner and our 8YO Grandson.
We moved onto a 3 acre block and we are trying to be a bit more self sufficient and make our food from the basic ingredients.
I have just ordered an early Christmas present, for myself. A Thermo Chef, and so am about to start another steep learning curve.
I did not know about the Thermo Mix until I began searching for recipes for the Thermo Chef.
From what I had read about the Thermo Chef the standard recipes I use at present will need converting and so the hunt began.
And I found myself here last night with so many recipes and helpful hints for the ThermoMix, which sounds very like the Thermo Chef I have ordered and from reading I notice some others on the forum also have the Thermo Chef.
Wow. I can't wait. The parcel should get here on Monday or Tuesday. By then I will have enough recipes waiting to keep it busy. :)

Hi and welcome Rosie, Its great to have another TC owner join us on the forum. You will have an absolute endless amount of recipes to choose from on the forum. I can guarantee that you will never even come close to making them all lol. Good luck with your new kitchen helper and have fun.

Hello Rosie, welcome to the forum from your beautiful part of Australia. You stumbled into Aladdin's cave when you found this forum - our recipes are pretty compatable with the TC as other owners will tell you. Have fun and let us know what you are cooking.

Hi Judy, We moved here 4 years ago from Adelaide, and love it here.
I found so many yummy bread recipes on here my mouth was watering.
Couldn't wait to try something and as is normal didn't have all the ingredients needed :(
My breadmaker (another gadget I couldn't do with out) is currently churning a 'Rosie' version of the Ezekial or Bible Bread.
LOL. It will be interesting to see how it turns out with a multiple of substitutes and additions,
If it is a success, I will post the ingredients and a picture.

It got to the PO Yesterday but couldn't get to town to pick up til this afternoon..
Now I have to decide what to make first.
We have isitors coming Thursday so maybe a few different icecreams to start with..

Hi Rosie, I also have a Thermo Chef. I have found everyone here to be absolutely great. Very helpful as the recipe book that comes with the Thermo Chef is to say the least - basic. I noticed on the NewWave site today that there is an amendment out for some of the "Chef" recipes and perhaps a few new additions. If you contact them, they will email them to you. Have fun and enjoy the company of many great cooks and mountains of information here on this site.

Thanks Nola. I have been playing around a bit with it and find the recipes seem reasonably interchangeable. Still wondering about the revers setting for things like the beef and Beer casserole. How does it go just on the slowest setting on TC. ???
We had to laugh, ;D My nephew and his wife have been visiting from WA. One of the first things she said was ."Chris bought a great new gadget for the kitchen, Had I heard of them.' And there was 'Thermo Thing' in all its glory. ;)

Hi Rosie, I find the recipes to be very interchangeable with little alteration necessary. The "Chef" seems to cook a little bit "hotter", so I sometimes reduce my temp setting by 10 degrees, but not always. The butterfly is the way to overcome reverse setting problems. Fit the Butterfly whenever you see a "reverse" icon, and use on speed 1. I have used the butterfly with higher speed settings, but that is mainly in whipping cream, butter or eggs. One caution, make sure you fit your butterfly correctly, or you may find it chopped up in your risotto :-)). The book explains how to do it. Also, you can buy the Hong Kong Thermo Chef's cookbook from them for $75.00 Australian, including registered post. I am receiving one for Christmas. I had a quick flip through it (while DH wasn't looking) and it looks really good, plus their facebook page shows you step by step pictures of a lot of the recipes being made. I find it really easy to drive, and I am sure you will too. Cheers, Nola.

I tried the Beer and Beef casserole tonight, but I had to make a few changes as my pantry is not yet ThermoThingy organised.
I used cream of brocolli soup that I had on hand and cooked on speed 1. Didn't use the butterfly.
And added some fried shallots that I buy from an Asian provision store.
The result was Yummy. And soooo tender. Cooked just 60 minutes.

I am finding that things catch / burn a little on the bottom of the jug. I will try using a lower temp and see how it goes.

TY. Next batch of Icecream custard I will mix on 5 and see how it goes.
I made Chocolate last night. Our grandson's favourite and we were out. He had to have a chocolate muffin for dessert instead. :(
DH then told me he had eaten all of the salted caramel maple (Macadamia) as well so that is on the list for today.
