Title: DINNER SPINNER
Post by: Tenina on November 10, 2011, 04:14:33 am
 :D :D :D :D :D

Hi guys,
Yes it is here, my little self published project has arrived in the country and will be available at cooking classes in Mandurah, Perth and NSW from tomorrow. It is a little book with 21 delicious dinners using your thermomix. It is hardy enough to bang around in your handbag so you can take it to the store to get ingredients. Dinner Spinner can be purchased online at http://tenina.com/store (http://tenina.com/store) from the morning of November 23rd.
Feedback so far is excellent, so I hope you will all jump at getting one. It has photos for every recipe and will prove to be well used I hope! At $15 it is a great hostess gift for Christmas, a great gift for someone who has a thermomix in your life and of course, fantastic to have yourself…(otherwise you wouldnt be on here right??)
Looking forward to hearing how you all feel about it…this is not the BIG one, FYI, this is a just a teaser to keep you keen! hahaha, For Foods Sake is out mid December and is full colour, pic for every recipe, 80+ recipes, gorgeous, gorgeous, (did I say gorgeous?) book that you will just LOVE…

…and this is just the beginning!  ;D ;D

Being one of the lucky few that earned a copy of the Dinner Spinner its fantastic, love the recipes and have tried the Feta Tart, and it was delicious,  even DH enjoyed it and he doesn't like feta :D This is on the list to make again. Going to make the Pesto Chicken Pin-wheels for a picnic at the weekend. It also has Umani paste recipe at the front, which reminds me I need to make some more.

I think you will be fine…we have 1000 copies coming (flew in a few for classes) and there will be another print run organised pretty soon, depending on how everyone reacts. We will have the new print run before Christmas.
Glad you are thinking they will be successful, heaven knows I need that. Been working for free for the last 3-4 months, so now it is time to see some results!

Bedlam could probably tell you more or Kathryn who I think went to Mandurah. I believe we will be able to buy Crio Bru stuff and Bedlam mentioned Bodum cups (I think) with a tea thing in them??? Also those yummy coated almonds (?) that jeninwa had at the get together.

Not yet, unless someone is happy to put it in…no time at the present! (hahaha) The orders just keep coming and coming! We are LOVING it…thanks to the forum for your support once again.

ALso for international orders, they are available on the site and it should calculate the postage correctly. If it is outrageously expensive, please make a note of just how much and email me and we will look into whether it is accurate or not.
You also must register to make an order otherwise there is a glitch that keeps happening….
so Robert and Frozzie…looking out for those European bound Dinner Spinner orders

Title: Re: DINNER SPINNER
Post by: tarasis on November 24, 2011, 08:58:19 am
Thanks Tenina, currently in the process of ordering. Postage seems okay though really I have no idea. (As noted elsewhere the "In The Mix" book I won cost $61 to post, so sample set of two so far shows roughly the cost of the book to post)

From German to Aus, for the weight of the spinner (and assuming a box with the dimensions 45cm x 30cm x 15cm and with the weight from your site .15KG), the book postage rate is €3,45/€3,00 ($4.74 AUS - ) otherwise a small packet via DHL (DHL & Deutsche Post are together) is €15,90 ($21.85 AUS).

If the total package weights above 500g then Book rate goes up to €7,00 priority or €5,50 Economy (AUS $9.62/7.56).

So $12.50 to Germany seems to be about par

Tenina will definately be happening but wondering whether to wait until the big book comes available to order them both at the same time rather than paying two lots of postage...?? is the big book like the in the mix one?? ie a whopper or more like the thermomix books european ones or aussie ones??  If you can give me an idea of the weight of the big book which I know isnt available just yet but im sure you have a copy and also the weight of the two books together if you have a sec as I can see on the aus post website whether its worthwhile waiting or if it doesnt make much of a difference..get me haha!

also do you have or can you give me a ballpark figure of what the big book will cost?

merci  :P

Will there be a vegetarian version in the pipeworks Tenina?   :-*
Title: Re: DINNER SPINNER
Post by: Tenina on November 24, 2011, 11:49:27 am
Frozzie the big book will be around 700g I think (as an educated guess) So yes, good idea to wait for both to be mailed together. At this stage price is at $50, but may come down slightly. Will know soon. It is looking pretty flash and I am VERY excited.

Ceejay, there are several vegetarian meals in the Dinner Spinner…more than in any other category. But having said that, it is a small book.

I think the next offering will be something other than dinners.

 ;) ;)

thanks Tenina and so you should be VERY excited...im looking forward to getting both books so make sure you keep a copy of both books because as soon as i hear the new one is available you will be sending off a parcel to France!!

Is it worth being on your database for international customers as obviously local classes and info isnt of interest...bit far away to make it  :P  just to be able to be kept up to date with your new 'projects' as soon as they become available or just better to rely on other forum members to keep us up to date...???

thanks Tenina  :)

Got mine today,  Tenina, you are a marvel.
Process in ordering via internet (for a dill)  easy with good follow up.
Presentation,  classy, printed on good card which can be wiped clean.  Will fit in handbag.  Photo on page with recipe.  Recipes straight forward.  Stud at bottom easy to use when selecting recipe.
Recipes, simple.  Ingredients all in pantry.  Number of serves listed.  Kind of food a family would like.  TMX use highlighted in text.

I don't make many main meals in the TMX,  but out of the 21 recipes there are more than 1/2 that i will make.

Thanks Tenina.

Yes really scream from the roof tops, but only when we have more in stock! SOLD OUT completely, down to my personal copy that I had opened and used to someone who just needed it! hahaha, so great….but now Singapore is taking their sweet time in delivering new stock. I for one wouldn't write that I like something if I didn't.  I do however note any tweaks that I do or something I would do differently next time, we all seem to do so on here with any recipe we make anyway, I think it's a good thing.  ;D

I had completely loss faith with any TM recipe book.  They are all hit and miss and I found myself going back to normal methods of cooking.  Your little book has given me interest again in using the TM to cook meals and I'm chuffed with the results.  Plus I like picking up little tips like chopping onions with the oil included makes for a better cut to the onion; I'd stopped chopping my onions in the TM.  :P

So I look forward to your new book, I'll be one of the first to buy it.   I wish you every success, you deserve it.  :D

Dinner Spinner has restored a lot of peoples faith in TMX books. I have all the books and hardly ever use them, except the EDC for guidelines. I feel guilty about it but too bad. I use recipes from here or simply convert my own as I go.
If Tenina's new book is as good as Dinner Spinners it will be a sell out in no time at all.

i agree with everything everyone has said above about dinner spinner, but one thing i'm really glad about is that we don't have to get eveything from HO. it's about time the monopoly was broken.
so thank you, tenina, for breaking free and giving us something that we have been asking for. HO should also thank you - i'm sure you will be generating heaps of sales for them as well.

I am having a dinner spinner weekend.  Tonight we had the chicken pinwheels which were lovely (and so easy).  Tomorrow the speck pizza will be for lunch and the fisherman's pie for dinner. I am loving the recipes from the spinner.

I must admit that although I did think the spinner-idea was very nifty, the novelty is wearing off a little.  I am tempted to scan the recipes and print the two sides together on the page. I like to have the method and ingredients on the same page otherwise you are continually flipping it over.  It is only a little gripe though as the recipes are proving fabulous!  ;) ;D

Exactly as I felt Chelsea, it does get annoying having to flip all the time and losing your place in the process  ;) Not only that but there is no room to make notes and changes.

If only there were enough room for the method and ingredients on one side (and room for notes) and a beautiful big photo on the other side.  I guess then it would be A4 size and way too big and clunky. ;D

When I use mine I totally separate the card I'm using and put it upwards and then put all the other cards downwards. If you understand me. I've also found that a fine artline writes on it, but you must leave it to dry.

I've just downloaded Dinner Spinners Apps onto my iPad and it looks great.   It's much easier getting it this way than worrying about postage and it doesn't take up any space on the bookshelf  ;D :D

With the App, you just get the recipe you want so you don't have to worry about flipping anything (sounds like I'm swearing but I'm not :D).   Only problem is that you can't write on it :(

I do the same but I still have to turn it over to see each ingredient quantity.  I might scan it later today and make it into a booklet.

Thanks Kim for putting those up…crazy around here this weekend, been an MC at a Carols by candlelight event with over 1000 people. AND the app came out, so too much for me!

Hahaha, yes, my ‘team’ is in overdrive. We have thousands of them on their way and I am officially nervous. I need to sell them, clearly! We can sell on Ebay, but only 8 per month without starting an official store, so I guess that is next on the list! (So much to do, so little time!)
It would be most helpful if all consultants got on board and sold them to their customers, and/or teams.
Hopefully, we are heading down that path sooner rather than later…but who knows! If it wasnt for the forum and facebook, I would be the proud owner of a great little recipe book (well 1000 of them actually!!)
xx

Believe it or not, we had to change the app name because we got a lawyers letter from Readers Digest….they have apps called DinnerSpinner, but not Dinner Spinner, and our lawyer told us we could fight the good fight….but we just thought we would solve the problem with less stress (isnt there enough of that to go around??) and re named it accordingly!
More recipes being added to it monthly FYI…so good value!

Just downloaded the upgrade and I'm impressed.

I think the voice feature where you say 'next' and it moves onto the next step/page is great, especially since it means keep dirty fingers off the screen - ingenious!!

Great how you added parts for ntoes and also our own rating system so we know whether we'd make it again or not.

Oh and it is so much clearer for the ipad now.

Well done and keep it up!!

Yes, there are new recipes. I think so far there are 4 more than the book and more to come. I think she's puts two extra every month or two. Here are the ones I believe are not in the book:

Three Cheese pizza with heirloom tomatoes
Beef and Basil
Malabar Fish curry
Chicken Vindaloo
oh and chicken, fennel and potato bake

Are any of these on her site??
