As much as I enjoy teaching Maths more, I am one of those dreaded Home Ec teachers, so I may be able to help Lee so what is the problem sunshine !!!! :) :)

No problems at all. In fact joy.
I am lucky to be planning a temporary home ec centre for one year and then designing my very own centre when the new senior school building is constructed.
I have worked in an established home ec centre before and taught it however, I have never started one from the ground up.
My class sizes are around 20.
I need a basic starter system, fridge, portable electric hobs, unfortunately convection microwaves etc for the temporary set up and would love some assistance with an essentials list. Then, in a year or so, we can pull out all the stops for a full singing and dancing centre.
Help please!

Lee it sounds so exciting for you - sounds as though your major appliances are on the list BUT where is the TMX!!!! Our kitchens require 2 students to share the one unit, and the kitchens were originally built to cater for 18 students. As always the boundaries are always stretched so now were have a maximum of 24 students in each home ec class (how was that no reached - the wisdom of school DP decided that with 24 hotplates in the kitchen class sizes could be capped at 24 - stupidity is working well here!!!!) I have written so many letters stating OHS breaches in this practice, but deaf ears prevail - grrrr....grrr!!! Did you want a list of the basics found in each unit as I will pm that plus any other info you may require - let me know!!!! :) :)

Robyn I know how you feel. My DH was a woodwork, metalwork, pre vocation etc teacher. He would get so angry when extras were sent to his classes. The comment of 'oh just fit them on the bench' was horrid. As you said Occ Health and Safety was never mentioned until there was an accident and they blamed him. That is the main reason he got out at 55.

Robyn thank you, i would love a basics lists if you have a moment. I know reports are looming for I you at the moment but if you have the time I would be most grateful and ever in your debt!
