I want to make a choc chip muesli slice and i have all the ingredients except grapeseed oil. What can i use instead? I have vegetable oil, peanut, macadamia and olive oil.
-
Any other light flavoured oil should be alright; from your list, I'd pick themacadamia oil because I think the flavour would be most complimentary, but I don't know if it is suitable for cooking with - check the smoke point on macadamia oil. i definitely wouldn't use the olive unless it was a light olive oil.

I would use Macadamia Oil or vegetable oil
like thermoheaven said ,check the smoke point on macadamia oil

sunflower oil is a good substitute for grapeseed oil :)
-
I too would use sunflower oil as an alternative to grapeseed., though grapeseed is my vegetable oil of choice.

As a reference, here is an easy-to-read graph of the smoke points of almost all culinary fats and oils.

I've posted this before in another topic.
We do have the section Tips and Tricks but sometimes these "Standard" answers, such as a link to temp and measurement conversions, need to be in a highlighted topic that stays at the head of the list instead of moving down because of the date of last post.
Just a suggestion.

Thanks everyone. I ended up buying the grapeseed oil in the end. My muesli slice tasted ordinary though so probably won't make again.
I didn't know about smoke points either. You learn something every day :)

There are a few muesli bar recipes on the forum Tasty. I've made this (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6874.0) one and it is really nice. Wondering if you could add your choc chips to this.
