Please help. I've gone completely blank. What can I make TOTALLY in the thermy... my oven has died, :o won't be fixed for a few days.... and school goes back on Monday.
We do follow a low chemical diet, but please give me your ideas and I can make the necessary adjustments. And... of course.... no nuts for school.
Thanks!!!! Thanks! Thanks!!!!

popcorn?

You can steam muffins and patty cakes in your varoma?? Do they eat rice pudding, yogurt, custard?? Chicken nuggets (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1365.15)? Popcorn Brunch Bars (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3244.60) ;)

What about the iron booster balls or apricot nibbles that are found in the kids and children's sections. Havent made them myself, but they don't require baking and are natural, so maybe alright for your special diet.

Do you have an electric frypan? You could try baking biscuits in that or pikelets with sultanas. If not how about pieces of dried fruit for recess. A little bag of sultanas, apple, peaches etc. Whatever you can get.
-
or beg of a neighbour to use their oven for an hour or so! Do you have a hooded BBQ? You can use them just like an oven as well. I often use mine in the summer :)
-
Oh my goodness.... this is harder than I thought. I don't notice what we don't eat until it's waved under my nose.
Thank you so much for your ideas... none of which I can use. They're all AWESOME AND GREAT ideas though. THANK YOU!!! :-\ Corn (popcorn), dried fruits... both out. And no I don't have an electric frypan or a bbq: hooded or otherwise.
I might take my Thermy and head off to my Mum's on the weekend. Her house is small and not child-proof so I was trying to avoid that. Ha ha.

Aww - that's too bad - have you looked on Sue's site (http://fedup.com.au/recipes/lunches-and-snacks-2) for recipes you can convert - I noticed coleslaw, bubble and squeak, Creamy egg and celery nuggets
???
-
try some boiled eggs, steamed buns, dip with vege sticks, carrot/apple/cheese salad, steamed scrolls (yummy - just like baked recipe only steamed), custard cups.
-
do you have/like using a microwave
-
I have a microwave and I under-utilise it!!! (Slaps forehead!!) Do you have any good recipes to help me on my way? :)
-
sorry i have no recipes for you :( ,i did 28 years ago ;D
-
Sushi or rice paper rolls are great for school and will make the other kids envious :) Are there restrictions in those kinds of foods? Very healthy full of salad.

Plenty of ideas on google, :) molly
-
Little Thermomix bars (bit of sugar tho) no bake - fridge only
-
how about those muesli bars that you put in to the fridge to set
coconut balls or date slice you dont need and oven to cook them
tell me if you need the recipe and l can email to you
l have also made cupcakes in the micowave too
good luck

You know, i"m feeling very stupid that I didn't consider the microwave... I am going to see if I can find the instruction booklet and see if there might be some recipes in there to get me started. HOnestly! People talk about a TMX being a waste of money... but reallly I think the microwave is the biggest waste. All I ever do is reheat my cuppa and defrost meat. Time for me to make better use of my tools!!!!!

I still make peas in the m/w 500g peas 1 small thinly chopped onion a good drizzle of olive oil high cover.10min
Salt and pepper after cooking
Same with board beans and beans
Still use it for sushi rice, only when i need more than the TM can cook
Pre cook potatos b4 baking
I cook my porridge in winter. i have tried in TM once and once only is enough :(
-
Fundj we have porridge in the Tm every morning! Once you tweak it to your needs it is great ;)
-
i only make 1 serve of porridge
-
Well that makes sense :)
-
What about chocolate truffles in baby and kids section? Or Chelsea's wrap?
-
molly do you a pie maker :-)) ;D
-
Nah. My silly little kids hates pastry!! WOn't touch it.
In an update..... big news is.... we have bought a bbq!!!! Tonight we're having a roast chook and all the vegies. :D
As we're in a rental and we've had this oven fixed 4 or 5 times, it seemed the sensible thing to do. And we needed a bbq for our house we'll be building next year.... so...... we got it now. Hooray!!!
I made Thermomixer's chicken croquettes yesterday and OH MY GOODNESS they were a huge hit!! Unfortunately, there are none left for school. :-)) So, I'll have to make some more... and for my niece's 5th birthday party as well.

thats great news molly, that will help you so much
-
Good work Molly! It takes a bit o watching to get the temps right to start cooking - keep an eye on the thermometer but it does work :D
-
Molly maybe have a look at the TM Rawlicious booklet. Yesterday I made some Cinnamon Bars (well I made balls) and they are quite nice. They don't require cooking and are very healthy. You may also find some recipes in the Vegetarian cookbook.
