As a matter of interest can someone tell me the price of Bananas there in the Supermarket, which are the produce of Australia, interested to know if they are being exported cheaper than we are being charged for here. Thank you for your help in advance if anybody can!

They have been up to $16.00 kg here where I am, they were down to $10.00 kg this week when I bought some :)

Uni, I think that was the price here too, just saw the 10 and thought yay they are on their way down :-))

I don't think I've seen any bananas for sale here that are from Australia.

I bought some nannas today but not from Aus. 400 gr for £1 in Morissons, quite cheap.
-
Lady Finger Bananas just came down to $7.99 kg in my local Yarraman fruit Shop but I'm sure they said they would be coming back to normal price by now! :-)) If 'they' - (who ever they is) don't bring them back to a reasonable price they will have trouble keeping the imports out. It's definitely not farmers that set the prices. >:(

nice to see you nay nay
-
And your DH - nice ;)

LOL! :D Yes I noticed it was the latest craze on here to (put up your photo) and yes that's my cowboy! ;D
-
$10.98 in Woolworths this morning.

We bought some bananas from the supermarket for 50pence a kilo, we hadn't enjoyed bananas for so long. I don't understand why we can have USA cherries for $9.99 a kilo, sorry but import some if we have a shortage. Perhaps that's unaustralian.

$10.98/kg in woolies- can't wait for the prices to go down! My 10 year old and I dream of cheaper bananas to make all sort of dishes.
-
About to do my online grocery order - kg price not listed (I think I noticed in store last week $12.99) at woolies online $2.31 each.
-
About $10 a kilo in Coles and Woolies in sydney, strawberries are cheap though got 3 punnets for $6.00
-
Yep, stawberries in season: lovely for sorbets!
-
Yes love to freeze at that price for strawberry foam and cordial. ;)

Bananas aren't normally this expensive in Australia! The majority of bananas are grown in Queensland and many plantations were severely damaged in a cyclone so less on the market and prices through the roof. Banana palms growing back now so hopefully cheaper bananas on the way!
-
As Fiona says, it's due to extreme weather conditions that our bananas are so $$$$$... And, to add insult to injury, the other area where bananas are grown was also flooded - Carnavon in WA!
-
this week @ wollies $ 7.95 ;D

Like Katya, never seen Aussie bananas in the UK. Most of the ones I get are Fair Trade ones from Central America or Ecuador / Colombia. Depending on where you buy them they can range from about £1 for 5 smallish ones to £2 for 5 large ones.
