Will not be buying, oil spray again. This stuff is fantastic.
I have use it for cakes, bread, crepes, pies, cheese cake
¼ cup of veg oil to bowl set time 3 mins varoma speed 1
Add
¼ cup of chopped copha a little at a time (the pkt will have markings)
Add
¼ cup of flour, slowly increase speed 3 to 4 for about 15 sec
store it in a glass jar. No need to put it in the fridge.
you can make it with any amount, just make sure it is equal parts

thank you for posting that, will that last indefinately in the pantry?
-
upto 3 months only medusa

Great tip, Fundj. I have been wary of that spray stuff since a propellant that is in it wrecked my expensive nonstick frypan, but still use it for cake tins--will happily swap over to this, much more environmentally friendly.

l use a hand pumped oil bottle
which my mother in law brought from armadale k mart in perth
a specialty kitchen store sells them to
you can fill it up with any oil you like pump it and spray on to your tins
works well l use it all the time
-
Thanks for that fundj. I'll definitely make some.
-
Sounds great, thanks Fundji

Wow, thanks fundj.
I nearly bought some in the UK but didn't like the Ingred list. This looks terrific.

I have Wilton's Cake Release which is in a flip top plastic bottle. I use a brush to spread it. I reckon this would work in a pump or squeezie sauce bottle too!@
Thanks fundj and CC!

I'm not a big fan of copha, could you use coconut oil?
Rara x
PS Uni if you have any left can you take a photo?
It's the first day of school holidays and my brain is already fried.
-
not sure Rara u could give it ago by using 1 teaspoon if each ingredient
does coconut oil have a high or low burning point ?
-
Coconut oil and butter are both saturated fats with a smoking point of 177 c
-
Thanks Uni.
It's quite thick.
Might give it a go.
I have unrefined EV coconut oil.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Rara x
Ps thanks Gert.. Does it need to have a high smoke point?
-
Sounds interesting...
Sounding stupid asks..." what is copha?"
Thanks
-
DJ - this can explain it better than I can . . .not a silly question at all!

I really don't know Rara. What are you using it for? . I have never used coconut oil but if this is for lining a cake tin I do 't think it will matter. My mother always used butter for that And the smoking point is the same so......
Why does it have to be in a spray bottle? If I were using it I think I would just take a tissue or paper towel wet it from the bottle and swipe it around. Don't know why I am trying to help as I am hopeless at cakes. LOL!
Gert running away before I get shot down ;D ;D
-
i just use a pastry brush
-
Forgive my ignorance but why would anyone choose to use a hydrogenated oil? Knowing what the science now says about such things?
I am like your mother Gert and use old butter papers for greasing tins.

I love this but after my first drama where it wasn't gluten free, now I can't remember if I used grapeseed or macadamia oil and when the school has a nut free policy...
