hi there
l have a deep corner pantry and l need help :( :( :(
please lots of ideas of how to organize a deep corner pantry
it is 40 cm deep and is a L shape one way being 90cm and the other way being 115 cm and has about 5 shelfs .
the problem is stuff gets lost in the back corner it is a waste of money/space .
l have tried baskets but then you need to move the stuff from the front to get to the stuff at the back
l want to try and do a weekly meal plan so we know what to having instead of staring at the fridge /cupboard at 4pm
hoping that something will jump out to say eat me .
l hate that decision every night .
that is why l brought a thermie to eat healthier meals .
also l work part time and my husband loves to use the thermie to cook tea which l love when he does .
so l would like this to be easier for him as l want to encourage him to cook tea :) :) :)
l can buy stuff online but don't have many shops close by to get ideas
please help all ideas welcome

Nazar, have you been to one of those storage solutions shops to see if they have anything that would suit.

My Hubby is in the kitchen business. As JD mentioned there are some great storage solutions out there. It is worth going into a kitchen or kitchen/joinery shop and checking them out. Lazy Susans can be great in corners but you may not have the depth required if I am reading your measurements correctly. You can get baskets or shelves on folding arms that you can slide in and out of tight places. It is amazing what you can buy now. :)

There is a company called Howard's Storage World which has a lot of ideas for kitchen / household / shed storage. I am pretty sure they would have an on-line business - just Google them. I think they have shops all over Australia, but that doesn't matter so much if they have an internet shop you can browse through. I was just in one yesterday and love roaming around seeing all the bits and pieces they have. It could be well worth a try. I have also seen a swing out style shelf (not a good description as I wasn't taking a lot of notice at the time so the picture isn't sharp in my brain - mind you, nothing's sharp in my brain at this hour on a Sunday - any, I digress) .... back to this swing! They are designed to go into corner cupboards then you just swing them out and you have access to everything. I just thought, you might find these at Ikea (amongst other places).
Chelsea's idea of a Lazy Susan sounds good, too - even though they are round and you may lose a little space on your shelves because of that, I think the accessibility would more than compensate - presumably you can get them in a variety of sizes, maybe even with a "safety barrier" to prevent items toppling off when it is moving.

Don't use that back space at all, start organising at the easy to get to parts with your high use items. Put things in the back space that you hardly ever use, like that fondue set :D Or use the awkward space to hoard glass jars & bottles (I don't hoard... much). For pantry items I don't use often I put in plastic storage boxes and write with non-permanent marker the contents, I do this for baking ingredients because I don't bake much, but when I do I can easily read whats in the container and slide it out. My herbs & spices used to be a nightmare until I bought a 3 drawer stationery holder that is the exact height of my shelves, so I'm using the vertical space and can put them in alphabetical order.
Doing a weekly meal plan is a great idea. I have weeks where I try to just use up everything and only buy fresh fruit & veges. It keeps things creative and hopefully then you're not throwing out things past the use by date.

Vivvaroo, I love your idea on how you manage your spices. I am off to measureup and see if this might me a solution to my "spice mess".

Yes they have a barrier and come in different sizes. You can get stainless steel or plastic coated ones. I want one for my corner cupboard but of course my kitchen has to wait. ;) ;D

l goggle howards storage world and l was in luck there only 2 hours drive away
and l could get them to send me a catologue which is easier than looking at a computer screen
so l can work out what l want before l visit there shop
l will ring ikea monday to see if they could send me one too ,but there 4 hours drive away .but they do deliver
l google kitchen displays rooms to so hop[ing l can do it on the same day
but there always so much to do when you come from the country to the city

To anyone but an Australian considering going to a specific store "only two hours away" would be totally mad! You've got to live here to appreciate just how close two hours away actually is!

My DH has been contemplating building one of the 'sushi train' kind of tracks for our deep pantry corner. Similar concept to the Lazy Susan, but doesn't have to be round. Mind you, I'm not sure it will ever make it from concept to reality!

:) For us, cairns is only 1 hour away, to go really shopping.
What about some plastic boxes to store things at the back.
Like from crazy clarks, easy to pull out too.

I (apparently as the story goes) grew up on the "love" dog biscuits (I don't know if you can even still buy them - they used to be shaped in hearts, bones etc). Apparently it was one for my dog and 2 or 3 for me so think he will have more than just a shiny coat!!

As a former Tupperware consultant, I can suggest having a one on one with a Tupperware lady (they usually are ladies). They can suggest what fits into your space and help you out. Probably costs as much as having something tailor made but just as useful and lasts even if you move house. I custom purchased to fit everything in my new Australian kitchen, moved to Germany and now have thousands of bits and pieces that I cannot squeeze into the kitchen. It looks pretty though!!!

I remember those, the heart ones were red, the bones were a cream, and I think that the triangles were green.
