Title: Hi
Post by: deltamushworn on September 13, 2011, 01:07:53 pm
Hi
I have seen a demo last week and was not that impressed, I must admit..... Im an experienced home cook, worked in hospitality for years.... but after coming home reading, researching and watching vids, I am now thrilled with this little gem. I have now booked a demo at my place and will definitely be getting one soooo impressed...now.
I have a family and after all the years of whats for tea Mum am feeling like I need a little incentive and why not a Thermo. I have done the whole.... slow cooked, pressure cooked, microwaved cooked, I make my own hand made bread, so lets have ago at this and see if its as much fun as those.   :)
have read lots here :)

cheers
Delta

Hi Delta.....unfortunately some consultants really do not know how to sell the thermomix...some get into it just to get their thermomix for their time and that can make for a crappy consultant...Ive seen some consultants who do more damage than good but saying that there are alot of good consultants out there and to be honest once you see what it can do, the possibilities are endless...im sure you will love it as much as we all do!  Look forward to hearing more from you when you get your thermomix  :)

Well I am so glad you decided to do some research and join us here on the forum. Hopefully your next Demo will be much better and help you to make the final decision. We all love out TM's on here (As you have probably already worked out). If you need any info then please just ask and someone will be able to help you out pretty quickly.
I have 5 kids and the "Whats for tea Mum" drives me crazy, I have made a huge variety of different recipes since having the TM and am always looking for new recipes to try.
Good luck and please keep us posted.

Hi Delta, and welcome, I am so envious as I wish I had the Bimby when the kids were home, how many times do you wish you could just leave home when everyone wants to know whats for dinner and you haven't a clue.  At least with the Bimby you have so many people on hand to help you out.  As for the money I reckon if you are anything like me you will save that in Cookery Books, my hubby always used to say " how can you have so many cookery books and you never cook anything different," to which I used to reply " how come you have so many tools in the garage and the house still looks the same."  You won't regret it.

Welcome Delta to the forum. At least you are giving the TM a second chance after your disappointing demo. There will be plenty of encouragement here to get you in the swing of cooking with the TM when your arrives.Have fun :)

I want to welcome you too, Delta.  I hope all goes well with your next demo.  Sit back, relax and enjoy.  (Please excuse me if I'm being too curious, but I was wondering if you'd mind sharing what put you off at the demo you attended.)  Thank goodness for this forum.  It really is motivating at so many levels.  Hope to read more of your posts on here once you get practising with your very own Thermomix.

Welcome from me as well Delta, I took my debit card out straight away after my demo(well hubby did actually  ;)) and I am so glad we did. Like you I cooked a meal from scratch nearly every day of my life and cannot imagine my life without the thermie now you will love it I'm sure.

A warm welcome Delta.  It's great that you were able to overcome the intital demo and see the true benefits of the TMX.  It will surely transform your cooking.  We will look forward to hearing back from you on how you are getting on and, perhaps, some recipe conversions as well once you are up and running with your TMX.

WOW thank you every one how fab to wake up and read all this :)

The reason I wasn't too impressed with the demo was (don't want to be rude but) the demonstrator was really not that good a cook I didn't think. There were pips in her sorbet , the risotto really didn't turn out well at all, a bit undercooked and i could taste uncooked onions. I love to cook and thought it would be a good machine, but the raw onion flavour and sloppy risotto, not for me. I did like the bread dough and a few other things. So then when I went online and watched and read more about it I understand that it could be used the way i would use it, how it could help me. I know a lot of people are interested in the healthy aspects, the going back to basics and that is great. I already try my best to cook healthy I really was more interested in something to make me enjoy cooking even more and give me a boost :)

Will let you know how the demo goes. I have asked for a different demonstrator just to see anothers spin on it.  ;D

cheers

Welcome to the forum Delta!  You should ask your new consultant for dishes you would like to see cooked in the TMX.  Mine was happy to tweak her demo menu and I was happy to pay for some of the groceries.

Hi Delta, welcome to the forum.  You have a great attitude towards cooking so it is clear you are going to love what the TMX can do for you.  I agree, some consultants are obviously not cooks and it shows in their demos - a good basic cook will always make the TMX work for her/him.  Enjoy your time on the forum - you will love it as much as you will love your TMX.

Penji, loved it  :D :D

If you are anything like me you will save that in Cookery Books, my hubby always used to say " how can you have so many cookery books and you never cook anything different," to which I used to reply " how come you have so many tools in the garage and the house still looks the same."

Hi and welcome to the forum, Delta.  This forum and your research will provide you with far greater insight into the miracles of this machine than some consultants, however there are many, many wonderful consultants out there, many of whom frequent this forum. Your comment interested me Frozzie - I have had 3 demos at my place and have always supplied 90% of ingredients!!!!!!!!!  :)  :)

I have no dought that there are goor demonstrators out there, its the same in every thing, you will strike one that doesn't jell with you ,but that doesn't bother me now, looking forward to my demo and then my thermomix :) pretty sure I will order one but just want to see it one more time to be 100%.
I have to supply some things but not much and I am happy to :))) my friends have all been talking about how they are looking forward to it too. :)
Title: Re: Hi
Post by: Frozzie on September 15, 2011, 06:04:50 am
hope it all goes well delta  :)

robyn the consultants here send you an email or if they see you they give you the list of everything you need to not only buy but have ready for her to use for the demo...our consultants really dont do much except have demos and try and sell..all purchases have to go through head office and even when there is a problem they can come but its all head office so their job here is pretty easy!

Title: Re: Hi

yes and that wait is painful....but use that time to plan what you want to cook and have your recipes ready to go!!  Oh also either print or copy over recipes onto an app...evernote is free and very good for storing recipes as well as anything else...like an electronic notepad if you dont know it!....exciting times!

Hi,
I have been so busy cooking so much, I am trying out recipes in the books to get the feel of the TX .
I have been doing a bit of experimenting with my our recipes and learning too, it is a great time to be doing this as it's school holidays so have lots of people around eating :)))
The one thing I tend to do is add too much liquid I  have discovered there is not a lot of evaporation occurring but i am working on adjusting My way of cooking  :)
Yes I think it have been doing what I hoped, inspiration.
Must say my bread dough has improved even though I was happy with it before, really happy now.
So I mostly cook savoury things so no cakes or things as yet, we are not big sweets eaters, I of course have made custard :)
Anyway the suns up so I'm off to the kitchen
Thanks every one I think me and Eddie will be good friends for a long time :)))
Cheers

Hi Delta, I'm a newbie too.  My story sounds very similar to yours.  I went to a demo.  Thought the machine was interesting, but felt like it was aimed at people who can't really cook.   I thought I can make bread, custard, risotto myself.   And if I really wanted to make sorbet, I could use my ice cream maker (which I discovered yesterday the bowl had leaked and it's now in the bin!).   I own a Kitchen Aid mixer, a food processor, a stick blender, a Kitchen Aid blender  So why would I spend this much money?   But I was intrigued and started looking online and found so much great information.  It all convinced me that the Thermomix definitely had a place in the kitchen plus my tax return and DH's well-timed bonus helped.  Also I didn't like the KA blender that I bought last year.  :D

I've only had my machine for 13 days.  I couldn't wait for my demo either, and just ordered the machine.  :D  We are on school holidays too, and I've been making a fair bit too and loving it.

It's addictive, isn't it?  :)
Title: Re: Hi
Post by: deltamushworn on September 29, 2011, 04:29:53 am
Yes it is, I was a bit put out how they market to people not that interested in cooking I think they are doing themselves an injustice in that.
Fun with the holidays isn't it lots of kids around here with such horrid weather here in Melbourne at the moment kids inside .... My daughter and i made a lemon and coconut cake this morning (I'm not a big sweet eater) but there are heaps of kids to polish it off, while it was cooking we whipped up a red Thai curry paste which I will use tonight to make a chicken curry in the TX
I have been tell my Mum all about it as I do things ( she is fantastic cook) and she has gone and bought one herself lol. Now we can share recipes :)
It is all such fun :)

That is certainly a great thing - sharing with your mum is special!!! My DD purchased one last Dec, she hated being without the kitchen wonder after having lived with us from the time I purchased, in June until she moved into her own home.  You have already discovered an invaluable resource in the forum - I hope that Melb weather becomes a bit more tolerable for you all!!!!

Have been having fun lately with Eddie, today I decided to whip up a batch of my hot sauce to see how it goes in the TXM .... Grinning chilies and things , wish it was warmer so I could open the door lol cough cough cough but seems to be going greet just don't want to look in the hole making my eyes water :))))
