I am so excited!!! I just got off the phone from ordering a second bowl for myself . . . . and a thermomix for my Mum!!! Woohoo! My beautiful Hubby gave me his tax return and combined with my own little thermomix savings stash I finally had enough for my big order. I now have to wait for my parents to return from holiday so I can give Mum her big surprise. ;D ;D ;D

Woohoo how lovely of you to think of your mum, I would pay money to see her face when she realises she has one. I have just started( became a demo on Friday) and sold 3 machines at my first demo yesterday so I am half way to buying one for my sister, this is my goal to sell enough machines so I can gift one to my sister who has a young family and cannot afford one right away. You inspired me now to keep on going till i make it happen.

Chelsea, this is one of the nicest posts i have read for ages. You will certainly benefit from your mum having a TMX. You will be able to share recipes. ;D ;D ;D. And to have a second bowl is just fantastic, I use mine all the time and don't know how I would manage without it.

It is lovely to be able to share my excitement with you all. I just can't wait to get that second bowl and know I will use it everyday. My Mum certainly will be excited (perhaps also a little cranky with me for spending so much on her :P). She is one of those Mums who does everything for everyone else and would never buy anything like this for herself. Until last month I was quite happy putting aside my $25 each week and gradually saving for Mum's machine. When my dear friend's Mum was diagnosed last month with very aggressive and advanced breast cancer though my Hubby told me to use his tax money and order it now. I can't wait to share this amazing journey with my Mum. :)
P.S - My Hubby is truly amazing. Last year his tax cheque arrived the same day as our World Families newsletter. He didn't even blink when I asked him if I could use his return to build a house in Ethiopia for a homeless family suffering from leprosy. Next year he is definitely getting new golf clubs. ;D ;D ;D

There are so many feel good moments in our daily lives as a result of this forum and both Chelsea and Passionflower have transformed the moment to a wonderful day for us all. Thank you both - your families are truly blessed :) :)

Mum's thermomix (and my second bowl) arrived yesterday. My consultant came and unpacked it for me - she rinsed and checked it but didn't think we needed to do the normal delivery run through ;) ;D. I am having great fun playing with both machines until we head to QLD on Saturday. Mum and Dad arrive home from their trip while we are away. I will be busting to get home from QLD to give Mum her pressie!

Hubby and I are just amazed at how shiny our new bowl is. I am also amazed at how powerful (and noisy) Mum's machine is. I hadn't realised my machine had slowed quite so much. I guess I have used it a wee little bit over the past two and a half years. :-)) :-))

What a pity you are going to miss each other Chelsea - couldn't you just put it in her kitchen and surprise her when she gets home? Have a great holiday but hurry back so that you can tell us Mum's reaction to your generosity.

Lucky you bowl number 2. I made noises to dh the other day about bowl number 2, he ddnt answer. So i kind of figure that if thats the case he didnt say no.. LOL ;D ;D

Chelsea you are so generous and kind hearted, Your mum is going to be so excited (Maybe even more than you are lol) And you and your Hubby obviously have huge hearts to be so generous.

Thanks all. Mum is going to get the surprise of her life. I honestly don't know what she is going to say. I will let you all know though. When I give it to her Hubby is going to take Dad and our boys out for the arvo so we can have some time cooking together.
The TM's do look great sitting together. I don't think I will miss Mum's machine when it goes to her house though. I always thought I would buy another TM if I won the lotto, but after having both machines going for almost two hours today I have changed my mind. I made an enormous amount of food, but my kitchen was a mess and I was exhausted at the end. When I am working with one machine I have time to put ingredients away, pack the dishwasher and tidy up as I go. With two machines I was going flat chat to keep up with them. I think perhaps just two bowls is enough (for me anyway). :)

LOL - I haven't stopped thinking about that CP (as you can imagine ;)). I think I will keep it pretty basic so Mum can see how easy it is to make everyday food. Mum is a wonderful cook, but I don't want to bombard her. Perhaps some lunch box cooking first - choc crunch slice and scrolls? We can then cook dinner for us all. Dad likes fairly plain food and nothing cheesy so I thought perhaps ILB's spiced sweet potato and chicken with some steamed rice and then Trudy's peaches and cream pie for dessert. That menu would involve heating, kneading, using the varoma etc.

2 machines would probably be fine if you had 2 or more people helping in the kitchen but then again maybe they would all get in each other's way. At least you've proven that 1 machine and 2 bowls is the way to go Chelsea.
Hope Mum is not too overwhelmed with her first cooking lesson - has she watched you use yours before to know the basics of TMX cooking?

I regulzrly hsve 2 mschne here, but i have the owner of the tm too, its fun cookimg 2's. We ake loads of food.
I agree 2 bowls is the way to go, so you do have time to load the dshwasher etc.

Very true JD. If you had helpful teens it would be wonderful. Hopefully Mum won't be too overwhelmed. She has watched me cook often enough but hasn't touched the machine yet. When she babysits she often looks through my cookbooks but won't use the machine (even though I tell her too). It will take her a week to get over the shock of having her own TM! :)

Not yet Shazzy. The TM is hidden in our bedroom at the moment. Mum and Dad came down for lunch on Sunday but it wasn't the right time. They had been away for over 8 weeks and wanted to play with the boys and give them their special pressies. We won't see them for a little while now as they are away babysitting my little niece for a few days. I'm going to burst though if I have to wait too much longer to give it to Mum. ;D ;D

Thanks so much everyone. I will keep you posted. It is so hard waiting, but I really want to find a time when my boys aren't around. Those of you who have noisy little brutes (who adore their Nanny) will no doubt understand. ;D

Oh no!!! MIL needs a break from nursing sick FIL and is now booked to fly down and stay with us next week! This may throw a spanner in the works. Can't give Mum her rather large present with MIL there. Hopefully I will see Mum and Dad Sunday arvo if they get home in reasonable time from my sisters place. I don't really want to take it to my sisters house and give it to Mum in front of them. I didn't think it would be so hard to find the right time. :-\

A little update from Chelsea (who is somehow locked out of posting in this thread):
I woke up all excited this morning thinking that it would finally happen today (giving my Mum her TM). I sent her a text early asking her to let me know when she gets home from my sisters house as I have a little surprise to drop around to her. Well she rang me straight away and told me that they were thinking that they might go out to the shack for a few days as the weather is so nice. Could her little surprise wait a couple of days? Well I could hardly say no as it is her first long service leave ever (she was a stay at home Mum until my sister and I went to Uni) and I want her to make the most of it. Now of course MIL is due on Tuesday and will be staying with us until next Sunday. Poor MIL I am grumpy with her and she hasn't even arrived yet! I am thinking that I might need to attend a "thermomix gathering" on Thursday night (or whenever Mum and Dad get home) and deliver it then. A few hours out may be just what I need by then and I wouldn't be fibbing to MIL exactly.

It is finally happening!!! Tomorrow morning at 9.30am I will be giving Mum her "little surprise". I did have to tell a wee little fib to MIL about my whereabouts tomorrow morning and I have yet to work out how I can get it out to the car unnoticed - all minor details though. I will report back tomorrow. ;D ;D ;D

Hi Guys,
I am having huge dramas with the forum. This message will be the test I guess as I am sending it from work (having a quick break from marking). MM has been wonderful and offered me assistance, but I suspect that it is my home computer and that I will be in a read-only state until I can get it looked at next week. How frustrating but at least I will still be able to read your posts.
Yesterday was just wonderful. I am still buzzing. Mum was puzzled when she opened her gift wrapped EDC (the TM was hiding in the car). I explained that I had bought her a TM so we could thermomix together. She couldn't believe it and kept saying "oh you are so naughty - it's too much". When she recovered from the shock (and we dried our tears) Mum really was thrilled and we quickly got the boxes in and unpacked them. We didn't have long together as my Uncle was visiting when I got there and I had to wait for him to go. I ran through some basics though and Mum started a soup while I was there. She is going really well with it and has jumped right in. Yesterday she made the curried pumpkin and lentil soup, Bron's lemon sponge and steamed some vegies and potatoes in the varoma. I was impressed that she used the varoma on her first day. She is already talking about converting her favourite biscuit recipes and has asked for a copy of my ingredient conversion chart (cups to grams). She sounds so excited on the phone and I can't wait for next week when we can sit down and have a good chat (and cook). As for poor old MIL I am still feeling bad about fibbing to her so we are taking her out for dinner tonight. Two more days!!!
Am looking forward to getting online properly. If anyone has any suggestions for fixing the problem please let me know. The forum looks perfectly normal but when I try to post or send PM's they take such a long time that they seem to time-out and the forum screen is replaced by a windows error message. I wonder if I have a virus? ???

Thanks everyone. Mum is loving her TM and fast becoming a huge fan. She is even converting recipes. I will have to post her yummy banana and walnut cake recipe on here soon. I had to laugh when she converted our family curried sausage recipe for their tea Friday night though. She obviously hadn't spotted my converted recipe in the cookbook I gave her. When she told me the steps she went through it was exactly the same as my conversion!!! It took me months to figure out how to convert recipes (liquid amounts, cooking times etc). I thought Mum may be a little nervous around her machine, but she is really going well. MIL flew home today so I am looking forward to a big catch up with Mum later this week.
P.S - Am back on board fully with the forum tonight. Perhaps it just needed a little rest. :)

I would love to give one to my Mom but she is not a huge cook. Only out of absolute necessity. She is the complete opposite of me when it comes to all things domestic. Maybe when she comes to Germany next year and sees it in action. But every time I bubble and fizz over my latest creations over the phone, I can feel her rolling her eyes towards the sky and wonder what on earth she created by having a son like me!!!!! I love setting tables, pretty matching crockery and fancy glassware but Mom would rather take people to a restaurant! I can but try!

I used to be a restaurant person as well as the area we live in in Melbourne is seething with cafes and restaurants but now, since we got our TMX, we rarely go out. We have one take away each week from our local Thai restaurant and, unless I forget to take something out of the freezer or simply work too, too late to prepare something and we have to resort to one of the local restaurants, it's home cooked every night for us and that is saving us heaps of money (apart from the fact that I cook more than enough food on a weekend to put into the freezer that we HAVE to eat at home so that there is enough room in the freezer for me to put more food into next week - does that make sense?)

Lee, good luck with converting Mum but after all this time I hardly think she will change her ways. You never know though, the TMX works in mysterious ways and if she has never seen it in action, then she really wouldn't understand your passion and excitement. You are probably right, she would be rolling her eyes listening to you rave on about something she doesn't understand. When she visits, you may have to chain her to the bench to force her to watch what thermie can do as she will probably rather be out doing the touristy thing ;) Didn't your Nana want to buy her one a bit back?

Nana would pay for it absolutely but I think it might turn into the home gym scenario - an item to dry the tea towels on! And that would be a very expensive drying rack
