Title: Snow Fungus
Post by: Denzelmum on August 30, 2011, 04:10:11 am
Hi, a friend of mine gave me some snow fungus.  Any idea what to cook with this chinese fungus?
Thank you.

Not sure what this is, but I buy black Tree fungus from the Chinese grocery and soak it in lots of water to get rid of the dirt that is in it,  When soaked it feels like jelly and I add it to stir fry for colour and texture.

Although I have often eaten these fungus's (fungi?) whilst living in Hong Kong for many years, I have never cooked with them, but I do like the texture.  I should imagine the soaking and cleaning is really important.  Let us know how your experiments go.
