Title: Warning to people with gmail accounts
Post by: Katya on August 06, 2011, 09:46:50 am
This was in our paper today.   It may be a useful warning to those people with gmail accounts to make sure you've got a copy of your email contacts at least.

I read that article and it's very interesting.  It appears that if you are sent a random email from a friend with a link in it do not click on the link.  I've received 2 such like emails from my sister who I rarely see or hear from so it was easy for me to just delete the emails.

I've told my family not to send me links or wmv files as I'm not going to open them.  I hate those emails that get forwarded to millions again and again.  :-))

Thanks for the update Katya.  It just goes to show that we can never be too careful.

We had one of these emails (containing just a random link) sent from a friend yesterday so this post was perfectly timed. My friend was stunned when I told him what his email account had sent out. He has since sent out a message to all of his contacts letting them know what happened and then closed the email account down.

You have to be so careful these days. I seem to get more and more emails with warnings about accounts and sites being hacked. Just don't know what you can trust anymore.

That's nasty as I use a gmail account when I am away.
