Hi all, had my thermomix for a week now and have already made so many things- choc custard, bread, risotto, stock - just to name a few.
Tried making porridge this morning but turned out a bit of a flop. Any tips?

I love Thermie porridge,I usually follow EDC family recipe. What did you do?
Welcome to this wonderful forum, I have only had mine for one month and can't imagine life without it.

I tried to halve the recipe for 2 serves- so that was probably the reason. The oats stuck to the blades and the texture wasn't great. I should just stick to the original recipe until I am more familiar with the tm!!

I make a full recipe and fridge any leftover to microwave the next day. I like to have it on speed 2, I think if you have it a little faster it doesn't burn or stick.

I'm the only one in my family who likes porridge and make a single potion in the microwave. ;D

Hi and welcome mcummin, I'm glad your loving you TM. I know from experience that on speed Soft or 1 ( I can't remember) that the porrige does stick to the bottom and then dosnt cook at the proper temperature. I think speed 2 is the way to go when making porridge. I have only ever made it once and was a flop. My mother makes it all the time and uses the higher speed and is perfect every time.
Enjoy your cooking.

hi mcummin, welcome to the forum. Ah yes, porridge - I think we all went through what you have when we first made it. Not being a porridge lover, I haven't stuck to trying all the different ways mentioned on the link CC gave you or peoples's blogs (you just have to google 'porridge Thermomix' to get lots of reading on this subject). DH will not eat a hot breakfast and porridge fits into that category as far as he is concerned whereas to me a hot breakfast is bacon & eggs. Enjoy your new helper in the kitchen plus your time on here.

I am glad I didn't read how everyone didn't enjoy Thermie porridge before I made it (I probably wouldn't have bothered) but we love it. I use boiling water and then for the last 2 minutes add light and creamy evap. Perhaps thats my trick. Anyway we do love it quick hot and easy.

Hi mcummin and welcome!
I was given a recipe for porridge from my GL the other day. I will hunt it out and let you know what she does. Another option for you to try ;)
