I want to make the Boiled Orange and Almond Cake but I wonder if anyone has made it before and does it work?
The reason I ask is I have made it before using Stephanie Alexander's recipe which is 6 eggs but the EDC recipe only has 3 and I am worried it wont work well.

Hi Mello, welcome to the forum. I have an early EDC recipe book and mine says 6 eggs, maybe they changed it in the later editions. Helene has done this (http://www.superkitchenmachine.com/2009/1356/gluten-free-thermomix-almond-cake-recipe.html) recipe not knowing we had one in our EDC and it is almost identical. Have a read of what her followers thought of this recipe and compare the method with our book.

Thanks for the response and link. She uses 6 eggs so I think I will stick to that and see how it goes. I will let you know.

I have made the cake with only 3 eggs and it works fine. Such a yummy cake :)

4 eggs work for me. Like Helene I use 200g of sugar rather than the 250g from EDC. I also grind a tbsp of cardamom seeds with the almonds for extra flavour.
This is such a good recipe. I've made 12 orange-almond cupcakes yesterday. My youngest son was happy as his cupcake fitted nicely in his lunch box and smelt so good :)

Oooh Carine, I like the sound of cardamom in there with the almonds, as I'm such a fan of cardamom. Hard to believe I made this cake ALL THE TIME and never thought of adding cardamom. :-[ Boy, we sure can get complacent sometimes with recipes that work for us, can't we ;)

Hey Helene, that's what this forum is all about: exchanging ideas! Glad you like the cardamom twist :)
