Title: Cheesy Pasta like Kraft Deluxe???

Hi all,

My kids (and to be honest my DH and I) like the Kraft Deluxe Macaroni and Cheese. Since getting the TMX I have been only getting it when it is on special and keeping in the cupboard for emergency meals. However during our dinner planning for the week my DS6 begged to have "cheesy pasta" for dinner this week and I just can't bring myself to buy it for him again.

I have tried making him something similar but it is never "good enough" - one of the few TMX recipes he specifically asks not to have. Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can get closer to the flavour without adding the crap?

I've consulted Chef Google and found a few copycat recipes but they all involve another ingredient called cheez whiz.  I'm thinking it's similar to the cheese spread available here (and is what I used to use on pasta to make it taste the same before discovering how bad annatto (160b) was for my children).

I haven't tried this cheese sauce  (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6120.0) recipe yet Kerryn but I was wondering if you just added your cooked macaroni to it if the kids would like it.  It has rave reviews so just a thought.

I can't think of the name of it but what about the creamy carbonara one? JD you will remember it..... I hope  :D
