Hi My name is Katharyne and I was fortunate to have my Thermomix bought for me. As I live alone my family was concerned I might not bother cooking enough for myself- so this beautiful gift. The only problem I may have will be working out what recipes can be prepared for one or be frozen for another day. Anyone having any ideas I will be pleased to hear from you.

Hi Katharyne, welcome to the forum. How lucky were you, it surprises me how many of our members have had their machines bought for them by generous parents or even in-laws. There are only 2 of us, one not being a very big eater either so even when I make half quantities of some recipes there are usually leftovers for another meal. I have frozen heaps of stuff from the forum or cook books so for you, this will be the way to go. Cook 1/2 qty of the recipe (reduce the cooking times by 20%) and if you don't want to eat the same thing 2 nights in a row, freeze the leftovers for when you are pushed for time. There are quite a few recipes on here that serve just 2 people - I'll see if I can find them and add them to this posting later.

Found these Katharyne.
Hokkien noodles with chicken, ginger and oyster sauce (serves 2) here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6104.0)
Chicken & Almonds (serves 3) here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6132.0)
Linguine with prawns, basil & cherry tomatoes here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6105.0) Serves 2.
Chicken Kiev here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3879.0) - this makes more than you would need but they freeze really well uncooked.
My Favourite Quiche recipe here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5690.0) - freezes well.
Just a few for you to check out. Once you get to know your machine you will be able to reduce the quantities of any recipe. Just have a browse of our Main Meal section or our new All in One section and you won't know where to start ;D

Thanks for the info. It was good to now how much time I need to reduce the time when I reduce the quantities. I have read several of the recipes that have been posted and so far they all appeal to my taste. Can't wait to try some of the main meals as I have only tried soups a cake and they were terrific. Hopefully I will be able to contribute some recipes myself in the months to come.

hi katherine and welcome and like JD said you can jsut cut down the recipes that can be from 2 to 4 people generally so would be pretty easy to cut back...or you can half them and freeze the rest for a quick meal when your in a hurry...read all the comments on recipes as sometimes people have adapted them for less or more or added tweaks etc etc, some note that they are fine to freeze and in what form uncooked, partially etc etc...but in any case if you have any questions just ask there is ALWAYs someone around to answer your questions...like Ted said everyone here is very helpful both old and new..look forward to hearing what your up to and very nice family to buy such a gift...we just bought ours then my parents bought theirs afterwards lol :)

Hi Katharyne
I think a lot of recipes can be adjusted to suit 1 or 2 people, and so many freeze well for those 'can't be bothered' nights. Because a lot of recipes are so easy to use in the thermomix it is easier to cook for one as there isn't a lot of washing up to do afterwards :D
