After many months of "lurking" I thought I should finally introduce myself.
I am a mum who has 2 amazing boys who has nagged her husband for 2 years in the hope that he may cave in and finally say yes to me buying a thermomix - and finally he has!!! Anything I think for a peaceful life!!
I have had my thermomix only for a very short time but have tried many things - some successful and some not so! All practice I guess.
I also wanted to say how impressed I am with this forum and how kind, friendly and helpful everyone is - its like one big happy family!! It really is amazing and I have spent many hours reading the many different posts.
I hope one day I may become skilled enough to convert and post a recipe but until then I look forward to reading and using the ones here! Thanks to everyone who contributes to the site.

Hi Shazzy, welcome to the forum at last. Most of us have our ups and downs with recipes, some of the lucky ones just go for it and seem to do really well though but by sticking to it, we all end up having our successes in the end. Best to check in the review section to see if a particular recipe from one of the books has been tried and of course the recipes on the forum will have their reviews in the recipe thread. It is a wonderful forum, everyone helps and makes suggestions so join in, post some recipes when you feel more confident and just enjoy your time on here.

Welcome Shazzy. As Thermomixer says you will soon be there with everyone else.

Hi Shazzy and welcome to the forum. You certainly were persistent with your DH in getting a TM but it's great to hear that you are enjoying your cooking.I certainly had hit and miss success with the TM when I first stared cooking. We ate a lot of soup in those days :D :D

ooops - just realised that this got buried after my mass welcome

Thankyou for your welcome and I am sure with practice it will become easier! Just a quick question - I am looking at making the Creamy Tomato and Salami Fettucine tonight (well getting my 12 year old son to make it!) and was wondering if you could use Evaporated milk instead of the cream? I can feel my waist line expanding with all this cooking I am doing! Thanks

Shazzy, I often substitute evaporated milk for the cream in recipes. I mix a tablespoon of cornflour in with it before adding it to the bowl to prevent curdling.

welcome to the forum shazzy...i think converting comes also alot down to confidence and breaking it down...once your used to the style of cooking with the thermomix you can go for it and try out some of your old favs using if possible similar recipes on this forum or elsewhere as a guide :)
