Title: Mrs Nicholls' Salad
Post by: KerrynN on April 26, 2011, 10:44:01 am
Name of Recipe: Mrs Nicholls' Salad

This recipe is being dictated to me by my DS6. His class made this at school and he loved it so much that he insisted we convert it to the TMX (Thermie). He really wanted to add his own recipe to the forum, so here it is.

Number of People: 4
Ingredients:
1 large carrot, chopped in chunks
1 apple, quartered
juice of one orange (or 1/2 cup bought orange juice)

Preparation:
Put carrot and apple in Thermie. Chop on speed 6, for 10 seconds.
Dish up into cups then add the orange juice over the top.
Serve immediately.  ;D

It looks tasty. What section should we put this one into? Any ideas please?

hmm I thought we had a salad category!

Well it could go in the RAW one as it is a raw food otherwise I think the other salads are in the vegetarian section from memory  :)

DS6 says, "Thanks. I've spent a lot of time at school with my teacher trying to make this and as soon as I found out that we could make it in the Thermomix we made it at home. You can all see my class's blog at http://prepogps2011.edublogs.org/ to see what other fun stuff we do. We even made some yummy pancakes for "P" week and decorated some cupcakes for "C" week and we gave some to our Grade 5 buddies."

Thanks everyone for your responses. He was so excited to know that people were interested in his "dessert", which is when he insists on us having it - hence the current placement.

Sure mine would love it too.
How juicy is it? Would it be good with just a squeeze of juice?? My kids are very into raw foods.

DS6's comments were just too cute for words. Brought a smile to my face. Please let DS6 know I have read the blog and it looked like heaps of fun - except for Happy the frog - I'm petrified of frogs.  ;D

i think that is up to you a bit. We have used a one-one-one ratio, so one carrot, apple and one orange. When we did it the first time we used bottled juice and just poured about 1/4 cup in.

Thanks, he will be very excited! My son is the one on whom the frog jumped! Straight onto his throat and he was telling his brother at dinner that night, "it just jumped on my throat and started to try and strangle me!". Not overly dramatic, my kids. ;)

So I'm sure you wouldn't have like that particular frog Twitterpated!

Kerryn I think we should leave it here if your son calls it a dessert. Not correct technically but it can give everyone a lovely surprise.
