Title: Traditional American Brownies (very easy)
Post by: LeeJ on April 03, 2011, 04:02:30 am
Name of Recipe: Traditional American Brownies
Number of People: 4 if you are greedy!! Realistically 16
Ingredients:
220gms butter
330gms sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 eggs
70 grams cocoa
140gms SR flour

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 180

Place butter in  *: , 8o degrees, spreed 2, 1 minute

add 330gms sugar, mix on speed 4, 30 seconds

Add vanilla, set timer for 1 minutes, speed 4, add in eggs, one at a time

Add in 70gms of cocoa, 2o seconds, speed 4.

Add in 140gms SR flour, speed 4, 15 seconds (until all combined)

Bake in slice tray, for 30 or so minutes. A little less for a bit fudgey, a little more the the traditional cakey consistency.

Enjoy :)

I make these every Saturday night as our weekend treat! They get scooped out while hot and eaten with ice cream.
I will usually put 3/4 into the fridge to set overnight for a lovely fudgy brownie.

Twitterpated -  Used GF flour to accommodate a visitor and after removing from the oven it sunk in the middle. I squashed it a little around the edges to even it up and smoothed a little homemade nutella over it. OMG how yum is this stuff!! So fudgy in the middle and a really creamy chocolate taste. I piece is just not enough.

cattro - thanks for this recipe my kids love them (and me). I bake them nearly every week for school lunches.  A winner in my household.

Jelby - I have made these a few times now, very yummy.
I also add in some choc chip bits on reverse speed at the end. I like the texture they give.
I must also say they are much nicer with the woolies brand cocoa(I read somewhere you suggested this one Leej) . The first few times I made it with the cadbury brand and they were no where near as good as the batch I just made with the woolies cocoa.

LeeJ - The Woolies Home Brand cocoa is dutch cocoa, the lovely stuff. It gives it a taste of real chocolate IMO.

Rara1 - OMG!!! This was absolutely delicious. Made it tonight for our weekly family dinner.  Served it warm with vanilla ice-cream.
Thank you LeeJ for a great recipe.

Mrs KK - This is the best recipe. I don't have a sweet tooth but love this slice. I have made several times and never failed. I have also added milk & white choc chips.

mavvie - These are yummy!! I sprinkled walnuts on the base before i poured the mix yuuum!! Definitely make them again!!

VieveMS - I made these for dessert tonight.  They were super quick to make in the thermie and didn't take long in the oven.  Very delicious!

Lilli - This has become one of my standard recipes, make it all the time & it always get eaten very quickly. Everyone loves it. Very simple & quick, no fail recipe. Love it!

past94x - This has become one of my standard recipes, make it all the time & it always get eaten very quickly. Everyone loves it. Very simple & quick, no fail recipe. Love it!

Amanda - While I must be honest and say that I seldom come across a brownie recipe I don't like, these are very good.
Hope there's some left for when the rest of the kids get home.

Alexis - How easy and quick and tasty!

BZB - Not bad, considering how easy it was to whip a batch up.

jactela - Have just made this. If the left over mix is anything to go by, these will be wickedly terrible for you.

They look so tasty!

I've been really good for a couple of weeks now, not copying off and making sweet recipes as I continue on my quest to lose weight - but this recipe looks as if may have just blown all my good intentions right out the window - ah well, I guess my neighbour's kids will enjoy them - I usually give all my sweet things to them (after I have given them the obligatory "taste test" first, of course!).

PS.  I mean tasting my cooking ... not the neighbour's kids!!!

:D It's difficult with the Thermo hey!

Everyone loves these, and it was something I requested we do at my demo, to see if they would work in the thermomix. Well they did, they are better in it! So much flufffier and a gorgeous velvet texture!

OK, enough from me, and the brownies  :D

Had a massive cooking day yesterday and finished off with these. Used GF flour to accommodate a visitor and after removing from the oven it sunk in the middle. I squashed it a little around the edges to even it up and smoothed a little homemade nutella over it. OMG how yum is this stuff!! So fudgey in the middle and a really creamy chocolate taste. I piece is just not enough.

Love to see people getting good use from it  ;D

The woolies HB cocoa is dutch cocoa, the lovely stuff, why did I spend so many years being a cadbury devotee?! Any wonder I could never get that wonderful rich chocolate flavor. It gives it a taste of real chocolate IMO :)

I am just going through my printed recipes to upload to Paprika. I came across this recipe and realised I hadn't reviewed it. This is the best recipe. I don't have a sweet tooth but love this slice. I have made several times and never failed. I have also added milk & white choc chips.

I made these for dessert tonight.  They were super quick to make in the thermie and didn't take long in the oven.  Very delicious!  Now I just need to work out what to do with the rest of the mixture so I don't eat it all myself (or maybe I will!!).
