Title: Hello from another soon-to-be owner
Post by: allthingscraft on March 29, 2011, 05:01:57 am
Hello everyone

My name is Sofia and I ordered my Thermomix yesterday and it will arrive in time for my home demo Friday night. I am so excited!

I've been searching through all the recipes on this forum and watching lots of youtube videos. The information/recipes on this forum definitely helped me make my decision to purchase one.

The recipe and shopping lists are getting longer as I keep adding new things to try. I'm guessing one of the first things I make will be a strawberry smoothie or sorbet for my daughter  :)

Waiting *impatiently* until Friday evening.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

Hello Sofia , Snap! I just ordered my Thermomix same day as you, being delivered next Friday.  Prior to my purchase I had been researching this forum and was very impressed with the wealth of information here and the range of recipes.
We should swap our first impressions once our new TM's arrive!  :D Cheers Kathy (aka fujicat707)

Ok demo last Friday night went really well. Everyone who came was suitably impressed with this wonder machine! My thermomix was used during the demo so I definitely got a feel for it.

Saturday began the big cooking day   ;)
- pikelets from EDC
- Citrus smoothie from quirkyjo's blog
- Isi's Portuguese rolls
- hummus from EDC
- steamed vegies to try out varoma

We've enjoyed fresh smoothies for brekky each morning. Monday I tried spaghetti and meatballs - steaming the meatballs and I put pasta sauce in the top tray (using wet baking paper)

Yesterday was a baking day with Nay-Nay's fruit bars.

I love this machine   ;D  The information on this forum is awesome. Everything I've made so far has worked perfectly and tasted fantastic.

How's your new machine going Kathy?

My "Arnie" hasnt arrived yet .... still waiting for delivery, should be this Friday hopefully .... Seems like an eternity.  Is it just me or is there so many things to try first!  :D. Am spending the wait gainfully by clearing out my small pantry, got new containers today, plus need to go through my fridge and remove all circa WWII food items .. Tee hee!

Hi Sofia
Yay! My Arnie arrive this arvo!
Made Cacciatore Chicken Rissotto (recipe found on this forum) - absolutely delicious!!!!  But recipe was enough to feed a whole army ... and there is only DH and I in our household!   Heaven forbid, I may need to buy a chest freezer!  Followed it up with a Raspberry, Banana and Orange sorbet ... again so much food!  Have put remaining half of sorbet in freezer, but methinks it will freeze rock solid, worth a try anyhows.
I will definitely need to halve most recipes otherwise we will end up on Biggest Loser before too long!  Will make the veg stock concentrate tomorrow morning and take it from there, very happy so far.
Kathy

I think you may find that your freezer will now become your second best friend - used in conjunction with the TMX mine is certainly getting a great work out.

My freezer has never worked so hard or been so full since getting the TM. Following all the tips on this forum I now freeze just about anything that is not used immediately (herbs, leftover coconut milk, breadcrumbs, etc). Seems like every time I want to cook something I just need to go to the freezer as I have previously put some of the ingredients in there. I'm thinking of getting a few small magnetic whiteboards (I have 3 freezers) so I can see at a glance what is in each as I do quite often have to search for what I am looking for. Don't really know why I didn't freeze that much before - just too busy I guess. Lots of free time now I have the TM - I wish.  ;)

Thank goodness for freezers. We used to only use ours for meat, bread, frozen vegies and icecream. Now it has very little of those things in it. :-))

Kathy - sounds like you are having just as much fun with your machine as I am. My family are certainly enjoying everything I'm making. Yes, I've started thinking about a chest freezer as well  ;D Haven't quite worked out how to change the cooking times when halving recipes as it's just 3 of us - DH, DD4 and me. Lots more experimenting...

I recently asked question re: halving recipes, apparently temps same but time is reduced to 80% of original is rule of thumb. Thankfully  Woolworths have sale on clip top containers at present so stocking up on these and labeling the leftovers in freezer with masking tape strips so I can remember whats what!  So far simply love the scales function so useful and reduces dishes too!
