Have had my TM for about 2 weeks and my wife is over the moon because I now do all the cooking.
My grandkids love the cakes and cookies I make and all is good.
Made Luigi's cookies three times and they go like hot cakes. Made the Chocolate/hazlenut spread which was very messy, taking the skin off the nuts. Decided to join the biscuits with the spread but it was far too soft and I thought it was a failed effort. However found the spread had hardened in the fridge today (the next day)and I have joined the cookies with the spread and they are sensational.
Making great 5 seed bread and the yoghurt is fantistic, thick and creamy.Have to make two lots of 2 litres a week to keep up with demand.
Really appreciate all of your posts. Thanks for the obvious online fellowship.

I'm sure everyone is happy you have a Thermomix.
Try the sticky date pudding in the Every day Cook Book. It will make you a star! Although I'd pick a better sauce recipe without so much butter as I find it separates too easily. Let me know if you want the one I use.

dingdonny, it sounds as if you are cooking for the joy of it but are lucky enough to have grandchildren visiting often enough to help with the eating.
-
I can see why your DW and grandkids are over the moon. You are cooking up a storm :D :D
-
Welcome dingdonny- sounds like you are having a ball and everyone is reaping the rewards. We hope you find this forum helpful and inspiring. Here are some helpful hints (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=578.0) when first starting out.
-
Welcome dingdonny. What have you been making lately?
-
Thank you girls for chatting to this old guy. Thanks for the tip on stickydate pud foodie, I will try it.
Made the orange cake and it was very dry.
-
I have to mix for way longer than it says in the recipe, so they are not 40 sec for me! but still very yummy!
-
You are not alone there ahoney ;) ;)
-
Yes I discovered that, the mixing time is not nearly enough. after the initial mix I scrape down the mix from the sides and gently fold it in with spatula then mix for what ends up to be double the time..End result is super cookies, especially with the hazelnut/chocolate spread in the centre joining two together.Ration ourselves to one each a day though.
Does anybody else find the orange cake too dry? My wife feels that TM cake mixing is not as good as her old method with mixmaster. She thinks that somehow the TM process results in dry cake mixtures..
We enjoy the five seed bread , especially toasted.
Have a great Easter .

Donny try mixing your cake mixes with the butterfly in and on speed 4 max, and for a little less time and see how that goes
-
Thanks faffa, instructions say don't use butterfly for cake mixes so wouldn't have thought of that. Will give it a go.
;)
-
Welcome dingdonny - Hope your still just as enthusiastic a few weeks later. Stop by this (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=395.0) thread and vote for your state. ;)

Hi Dingdonny,
I am fairly new as well ...I just wanted to tell you that I find this forum invaluable, anything I make I search here first and always find some info or helpful tips. Happy cooking :)
-
Ellie: Yes I agree, everybody so helpful and willing to share ideas.
Hope you are enjoying your TM as much as I . It has given me a new interest.
I go to gym four days a week and need to watch diet so have to be strong and not eat too many cookies.
The best is the healthy food we are now eating.I make 2 litres of yoghurt twice a week.
One of our favourite dishes is the "Tomato pasta with Vegetables and Fetta" It is in the vegetarian book page 72.Have a relative coming to dinner this week and I think she is vegetarian so Bob's your uncle. This is so easy to make.
Have a great Easter

Thanks for the heads up on that veg/pasta dish dingdonny - do you cook it exactly as per the recipe, no tweaks?
I've just made the veg/pasta dish for lunch today, so will do a review on it in that section of the forum.
-
I love the 40 second biscuits too. I make them into jam drops and my children love them as well as visiting guests. Oh and if you forget the vanilla they really aren't the same. I use vanilla extract and I adore the amazing flavour vanilla gives.

Welcome argiebargie. Love the name.

Hi ellie j hope your thermomix cooking is going well. I use it every day, we have a regular supply of 5 seeds bread, i sprinkle a lot of seeds on top before it rises and it is super toasted with crunchy seeds and crust.
Made the butter chicken last night, it is so good, discovered the first time I made it it was a bit bland so added larger quantity of herbs and it was great.Have enough for another meal.Wife just going out and she said there are lots of carrots and pumpkin in fridge so will make soup, getting a bit chilly in evenings now.
Just got in from a bike class at the gym, keeping up activity other than in the kitchen, go to gym 5 times a week. All this healthy food together with plenty of exercise I willl live for another 20 years.(am 78 years old).

What a great balance you have in your life dingdonny - nice to see you taking care of yourself.
Did you do the Butter chicken from the EDC or the better version from the Indian cookbook?
-
Didn't know about the better version. We had better buy an Indian cookbook, is it worthwhile? The vegeterian book is very good.
-
The Indian book is really good dingdonny.
You'll last for at least another 20 years I'm sure.

The Butter Chicken is posted on the forum here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5295.0) dingdonny and there are lots of review of the Indian recipes on the forum.
