I had a funny thought this morning. Is there anyone famous here? I mean famous, famous lol... I wonder if behind a forum name, there is someone actually famous, as in stardom!!!
Just a thought... If there happens to be a mega-star here, don't be shy...lol
Have a great week everyone...

MM, you've got too much spare time on your hands to be thinking those thoughts ;D ;D However, it is an interesting question :-*
-
I often wonder that too!! Maybe they are just the lurkers? :D I'm a star in my own house if that's any constellation. ;)
-
I love that Nay-Nay. I'm certainly not famous. But now you have me wondering MM. Do we have Brad Pitt among us or Pete Evans or even Maggie Beer? We do have Thermomixer.
-
Oh, Nay-Nay, that was very good, I liked that pun very much!!!
I reckon our stars are Judydawn, Nay-nay, Cookie1, CP63, Isi, Farfallina ... as well as all the other hero and senior members whom I haven't named here because there are so many of you out there - you are all so patient, giving and helpful ... you ARE the real stars of this forum.
-
here here :)
-
Everyone is heading for the hero member status so this forum is going to be full of stars. It's just nice to be along for the ride and meet so many lovely people.
-
Sorry MM, I didn't mean to digress from your initial posting. I've got to agree, it really would be great to see if there are any big names behind the various forum names.
-
I agree. I think each and everyone member is a true star,. Speaking about famous, it's amazing how our forum ends up being mentioned all over the web. I did a quick snoop in Google and we are everywhere. FAME.... So yes, we are all famous. :-)
G'day

Ha ha! Yes, who IS the mysterious MM??? :o :o :o
-
Could this be the way he makes his BIG reveal!?? ;) :P
-
haha i would like to know who you are MM also other than that your in portugal..or at least i think thats right..you should let us know a bit about you!! You should post a note 'Who is MM? and write a little speal like in introduce yourself lol!
and regards to anyone famous i seriously doubt if they were here that they would reveal themselves...and its probably better that way..as much as the public is the way they earn a living I do feel sorry for them and the constant invasion...cant be that pleasant! Good on them if they are on forums like this..would be a nice dose of normal in their lives lol!
:) :)

whoops. MM/admin is very mysterious.... You are right about Portugal, but originally from England (a real POME). I am a Bimby owner, and work for an online company, in Social Media. I have 3 boys, a wonderful wife, a dog and 2 fish. My hobbies are cooking, cycling, reading and Internet... I actually spend a lot of time approving new members..tough job!
Actually, one or 2 members know who I am. I tell you what, I'll reveal myself when I visit Australia... I hope to go one day and do the grand tour.
There you go, you all know a little more about me :-)
Take care
-
That was very interesting - thank you! :) You are a star getting through 3311 approvals!! It must be a full time job! :o
And just a heads up for when your in Australia next...there are laws here against revealing too much of yourself. ;)

thanks again :)

You are a tease MM and in my eyes a star, whether it be a real star or just a Thermomix star, it doesn't matter, we all love what you do for us on this forum. Now you have us intrigued though, how are we going to know you are in Australia ??? I know, you are going to go around and meet every single one of us personally :D :D :-* :-*
-
Less intriquing now MM! Thank you for your intro! 8)
Definitely no one famous per se around my house. :D
Although I was associated with someone well known nearly 10 years ago... that experience was enough to turn me off stardom for life! ;)

That's a red rag to me...who?
As to being famous: does being on TV once count??? LOL
I am sure I have met someone famous in my life......went on hols once with Lisa Curry; meet the cast of Cirque du Soleil when they come to Brisbane sometimes and I am sure I am 6 degress of separation from many famous people, just haven't found the link yet.....ummmm nope noone really famous!
-
I think the nearest I ever came to a famous person was meeting the governor of WA when I lived in Broome. Oh I've met a couple of footballers but they are usually more infamous than famous.
Lovely to read about your family MM. I can just imagine you doing the 'grand tour ' of Australia. Headlines saying:
MM will be appearing in Perth tomorrow and Bunbury the following day. Sorry bookings to see him are all gone. :D :D
-
MM - would I be right in thinking that you started up this forum? Did you ever envisage it becoming the huge success it is today?
-
Ok Ceejay you sooooo have to tell us who?????
-
I would imagine that if there were any super famous people that owned a thermomix that it would be their personal chefs who used the forums and checked out recipes, rather than the stars themselves, hehe.
-
LOL Ladies!
I respect my own (and others') privacy too much! :-*
Sorry. :-\

I met Harry Redknap once while walking my dog - coincidently his dog had the same name as mine. His was a British Bulldog and apparently Jamie and Louise also had a British Bulldog. I had a Boxer which is part of the same group ....
I was also once given chips by Jon Pertwee ... Oh and I was on the news ... :-))
Does any of that make me famous? :-\
Nik
I'm a star in my children's eyes ;D ;D
-
Just remembered DH & I appeared on 'Getaway' back in 1994 when Rebecca Harris was doing some segments for that show. We did a 5 day cruise up the River Murray on The Proud Mary and had a fantastic time - all for free !! Haven't looked at the video for years, probably get a laugh out of it all these years later when I see how much we've both aged. That is my only claim to fame.
-
... we were recently on one of the Coxy's Big Break programmes late last year (I stayed well in the background!)

answering a couple of questions:
I have been in Portugal for nearly 15 years now. I met my wife when she was studying in UK. Then I left, and came to live in Portugal. It's a great country and anyone who comes and visits, don't forget to message me.
As for forum set up and success... The Portuguese forum was set up a few years ago, and I had a meeting with the owners, and they asked if I was willing to set up an English version, which gladly accepted. So I translated everything and started marketing a little. Then Thermomixer helped me out, by promoting this forum via his channels and Thermomix friends/contacts... From then, we have grown at a steady pace. Recently we have boomed, and it looks like this will boom even more. I never knew at the time that this would be such a success. The future looks bright...
As for famous people... well, Prince Charles and Lady Diana came to visit my school :-)
-
Is that a cryptic clue to your identity MM :D :D
-
I was once on the news in Uganda....although I never actually saw it myself. Does that count LOL!!! The maid in our hotel said she'd seen me. I was cuddling a baby in the orphanage we were visiting when the cameras came in to film for a piece.
-
I reckon the stig is lurking loo
-
OMG I've been discovered. ;) ;) ;D :-*

I've had dinner with the Governor of Victoria about 13 years ago...
and my aunty is Delta Goodrem's aunt, so I guess that puts me 2 degrees of separation from her, and thereby three degrees from lots of other famous people.
I was on the news too when I was in my last year of high school - not a great thing as friends and I were at the Melbourne Cup having told another friend (for teenager-standard reasonable reasons) that we weren't going, only to be seen by said friend and her mum there on TV... we were certainly infamous after that.
-
I used to live in Malta when I was a child and I used to see Frankie Howard [Carry On Films] every morning going into the chemist while I waited for the school bus, he was a very large and quite scary man, never saw him smile. Apparently there were alot of famous people on the Island due to tax breaks. Although the most famous for me was Rolf Harris as he was the only person on the TV who spoke English.
-
I've met Rolf Harris when I was doing my teacher training. He seemed a lovely man. I love his songs, artwork etc.

I had no idea the forum was also set in Portugal. Do you also participate on the Portuguese forum? Should I know you from there?
-
I once met the Queen and Prince Philip when watching a cricket match between some Melbourne chaps and the Royal Household staff in the back garden at Windsor Castle!
Thanks MM for the work you do for this forum - it makes thermomixing much more fun and interesting. And such a lovely bunch of members on this forum. I am in total awe of some of them!
-
I was in the courier mail last week. does that count?
-
Of course it does Peps 8)
-
It certainly does. As long as it was for something legal. ;) ;) ;)
-
If it wasn't legal, we'd have to start a new thread and call it "anyone infamous here?"
-
That could be a bit scarey. I don't think I've ever done anything illegal.............................this has got me thinking. Talking on my mobile why driving?
-
Of course it wasn't for something illegal you naughty girls. ;D
