Hello :)
Since I found this recipe on this blog http://lacasitaverde.blogspot.com/2009/03/crema-de-marisco-creme-de-marisco.html
I made it so many times!
It is very easy to make and has the goodthing that we can use the Prawn completely with shell and everything!
I hope you enjoy this as much as I d and here it goes:
CRAB SOUP
(http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr64/melgaco/DSC_0341-1.jpg)
Ingredients:
300 gr Prawns with shell
Olive oil
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
2 tomatoes
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons flour
1.2 liters of water
Fresh coriander
Salt and cayenne pepper
Preparation:
Peel the prawns - set aside: heads and body shells on one side and prawn "meat" separate!! (DONT throw away shells and heads !!!!)
In the TM:
Onion, garlic and tomatoes - 5 seconds 5 Level
Add a dash of olive oil - 6 min - Temperature Varoma / Level spoon
Now add Tomato paste, Prawn meat - 2 minutes / Temp Varome / level spoon
Now add the shells and heads and again - 2 minutes, same temperature and level!
stir the flour on top and mix a little with spatula.
Add the water, salt and pepper - 20 minutes / temperature Varoma / Level 1
Now everything has to be mashed in 20 seconds on level 9 (I always do on 2 times - first half then the rest)
Now get the soup through a fine sieve to eliminate hard things left.
And already the soup is ready to serve with a pinch of fresh coriander on top!

Isi - lovely to see you posting recipes again but you've got me a bit confused. The title of this recipe is "Crab soup" but there is no crab at all in the recipe.... is it meant to be a joke ??? ??? :D

Hi Katya :D
Hello
Once again detect my difficulties in the translation to your language :D :D :D
Thank you for letting me now - I corrected It!
(A crab wouldn´t be easy to mashed in the TM - it certainly would be a mess ;D ;D ;D)

Thanks for changing it Isi - makes much more sense now. I just thought it might have been a typing error ;D ;D
Do you think this soup is better in summer or in winter? It seems to me like a summer soup but i'm not sure why I think so
-
In my opinion it is an all year soup :D!
it is very lovely and nice in the Winter but allthou refreshing in the summer.

Hiya was just wondering if you could use cooked prawns? we have some left over from christmas and it would be good to get rid of them out of the freezer! Thanks in advance!

I think it may depend on whether the prawns have their shells or not as the shells probably provide a lot of the taste. Even if they do have the shells on, some of the flavour from them may have gone in the cooking process.....

Raw is definitely best when making a stock/soup from the shells/heads etc. I sometimes throw a few leftover cooked prawns into a fried rice or if you like risotto, in there. Best of all though, I just love prawn sandwiches.

Thanks for agreeing with me JD. ;) :-* I'm sometimes a bit nervous when I reply to a query as it is usually based on guess work or instinct rather than fact :D :D :D

Trust your instinct Katya, it is usually right. I've only ever used green prawns to make a stock but someone may have tried it with cooked prawns and have an opinion on that too.
