Title: Mum to coeliac 3 yr old
Post by: nicben on December 09, 2010, 03:27:43 am
Hello all.
I am awaiting the arrival of my thermomix (so excited!). My daughter has recently been diagnosed and I'm hoping my thermomix will help me with GF cooking. I'd love to hear from any mums that use their thermomix to cook kid-friendly GF snacks/mains.
This forum is fabulous. I look forward to checking out the fantastic recipes.

Hello nicben, welcome to the forum.  Yes, it is a fabulous place to be and you will enjoy browsing through all the recipes to see how versatile cooking in the TMX can be.  It will be a great help in the kitchen to prepare meals for your DD and there are others on here with all sorts of food intolerances so if you have any questions please just ask and one of them will come to your aid.

I'm a Coeliac but my 4 year old twins aren't. Everyone in my family eats what I eat that i make in the Thermomix and it is a wonderful machine to have for anyone with food intolerances/allergies as you obviously know exactly what is going into your food. You will find everyone will benefit, not just your daughter. All the best with your new purchase!!

Hi nicben.

Your Thermomix is going to be going flat out and you will love it.  I have a gf intolerant son and I don't know how I would manage it all without my TM.  All of those things which pose a problem will be a thing of the past as you will know exactly what's in your food.  The vegetable stock concentrate will be worth your TM by itself.  I'd put this near the top of your list of first things to make.  You'll love Cyndi's gluten free bread (make sure you make your own beasan flour (chick pea) as it tastes sooo much better fresh.  When you have made up a loaf cut it into slices and freeze it.  You can then pull out the slices as you need them.  It toasts really well and you can also use the bread to make your bread crumbs.  You can make your own baking powder so it is gf and anti caking agents free.  You can make your own ice cream/sorbet which shop bought usually all contain guten.  I make yummy gf muslie bars, chocolate balls, cakes, pasta's, risotto's, rice porriage, polenta, breakfast shakes etc.  The possiblities of gf cooking are endless with your tm to help.
Enjoy it. ;D ;D

Hi Nicben - I wrote you a message, but it disappeared - funny things happening on the forum today!  ???

You're going to love having a Thermomix!  We made gluten free gingerbread men today with some flours we ground in the tmx, and some bought, plus freshly ground spices and vanilla bean and orange rind - sooooo yummy!

Have fun! Jo  :)
