Title: New from gold coast
Post by: Jomart on November 22, 2010, 09:09:32 pm
:)Hi everyone, i picked up my thermomix on Saturday and cant imagine how I survived before.
I too bought without a demo (but will have one in 4 weeks) and I did go to a cooking class to see it in action.
Now just to try n decide what to make??????
1 question - did you get rid of all other appliances?
Great forum
Jody :D

Hi Jody, welcome to the forum. I have found a discussion on the subject of getting rid of appliances - http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3892.0.  The problem of what to cook will never get better, there are so many recipes to choose from, either in the books or on the forum and then you will start converting your own favourites once you get the hang of it.  Have fun.

I think the blender is something that can really be given the flick - the tmx is soooo much better on all levels - stainless steel bowl, power, safety (won't work without the lid on properly) etc.

I've kept my mixers (stand and hand held) even though i rarely use them, the bamix (it is a bamix, not an imitation), and that's it. I didn't have a lot to start, so it wasn't too bad.

Hang onto your stuff for a little while and see how you go. chances are you won't even want to pull the other stuff out, but give it a bit of time.

Welcome Jomart. I still have all my appliances in the cupboard. DD is taking them when she shifts.
What have you made in your TMX?

Hi Jody
I only got my TMX 2 weeks ago and I am in awe!  Every spare minute is spent trying a new recipe!
I straight away got rid of my Kenwood chef, my blender and my bread machine.  It is unbelievable.
The people on this site are amazing and such a good resource for newbies like us!

Happy Cooking ;D

Looking forward to hearing about some of the things you come up with

Kim :)

What have you made in your TMX?

Thanks for the welcome all.

I have made sorbet, icecream (cheated had bought icecream n mixed in stuff - yummo like a soft serve!), CADA muesli, bliss balls, almond milk, then juiced, zested, chopped, crushed & milled stuff.
Making my first full meal in it tonight. Curry prawns with rice n greens.

Jody

Hi

I don't have many old app to get rid off. Will keep by stick mixer, handmixer and big Kenwood, but never had a blender. May retire the icecream maker. Anything I don't want, if it's still in excellent condition goes on EBay. If it's not really saleable it goes on FreeCycle. Hope your all members of your local FreeCycle.

I put my appliances in a big box under the house - my kitchen has very little storage so this was a big bonus. I couldn't bring myself to part with it all altogether.
