Title: Second Bowl...to buy or not to buy..
Post by: Lovemythermo on November 18, 2010, 07:29:09 am
I've been considering buying a second bowl but would be interested to know what others think who have taken the plunge and bought one. At what times have you found it to be useful?

Judydawn I know you have recently purchased a second bowl is it worth the investment?

Only if you can afford it Lovemythermo. It certainly is very handy and I do love having it but I did manage for 2 years without it. It depends on how much cooking, baking you do, how organised you are too I think.  Those with the second bowl obviously would not want to give them back though ;D ;D

I love having 2 bowls but it is not essential. If you can wait, maybe see if they bring out the second bowl offer when hosting a demo etc like they had this year. I am pretty sure it was host a demo and purchase for $100 off or if someone purchases at your demo $200 off the price .

Lovemythermo,  I love my 2nd. bowl,  because I'm a lazy cook.  You can leave bread to rise while you make soup in the other.  But as Judy says,  you can manage quite well without it.

Ditto to the above. Although having said that I don't think I would have bought a second bowl if my first one hadn't been damaged slightly.

I think my husband would divorce me if I bought a 2nd bowl  :o (Doesn't mean it is ruled out though!)

I bought the two bowl pack when I bought my Thermy so I've always had a 2nd bowl.  To be honest I regularly have 2 on the go, but, like achookwoman, I'm a lazy cook.  I also often make sauces with flour in them and find that that sort of thing doesn't clean so well and the bowl needs a good scrub afterwards (or a run through the dishwasher.)  I often have on available for use and one in the dishwasher which works great for me BUT with a little extra effort I could make do with just the one.

I got my second bowl 1/2 price, and do find it very handy, but we managed fine without it. I did have the bright idea of keeping one lid for savory things (as I find curry etc leaves a bit of a smell) but it didn't work out that way, I just use the clean/dry one to hand.

My husband bought me a second bowl for my birthday last month and it is very handy but not essential as there are just to two of us. If I had a family then definitely I would want two bowls. Also you  can keep one MC pristine for show. LOL!

I got the 2nd bowl on the deal for half price, it is handy but as the others said not essential, I use it mainly for letting bread rise or when I forget to grind something before I put the wet ingredients in the bowl.  It does tend to allow me to be a bit lazy!

:o I think you got lucky alright Judy!

My 2nd jug was a Mothers Day present, and I must say it has been a wonderful time saver.
Already used both jugs this morning!

Phew, I thought someone might contact me asking for them back  :D :D  So are you saying that you only get the steaming basket and butterfly if you pay full price for the bowl set Meagan?

My husband paid full price and I did not get the basket or butterfly but I don't care.

That's strange Gretchen.  Mind you, they are not really necessary and I had already bought a spare butterfly just in case I accidentally broke it by going over the speed limit so I now have 3 butterflies.

JD, I got the second bowl set with the special offer this year and I got the extra rice cooker and butterfly too. Like you, I haven't used them and probably never will.
I love having the second bowl as I am often not organised and forget to mill the sugar or something before adding the wet ingredients. I do find that I often use both bowls when cooking and it certainly gives you a lot of freedom. Like others say though, it isn't essential and I wouldn't have paid full price for a second bowl set.
